Determined to bounce back after a difficult start to the season, Alpine Elf #endurance Team and its two trios were back in action on Thursday at round three of the FIA WEC at the world-famous #spafrancorchamps Circuit.

After two practice sessions in the dry, the drivers discovered wetter conditions before qualifying was entrusted to Olli Caldwell and Charles Milesi for the first time this year. The British driver regularly lowered his lap time to finish tenth ahead of Charles Milesi, who was hampered by traffic in his last two attempts.

Despite the drizzle on the Belgian Ardenne on Saturday, Memo Rojas and Julien Canal opted for slick tyres for the start of the race in front of packed grandstands with 72.000 spectators in Spa this week. The Frenchman gained three places and both drivers were in the top ten as they worked hard to consolidate their positions on a slowly drier but still challenging track.

The team continued its push with André Negrão behind the wheel of the n°35 car at the beginning of hour two while Julien Canal extended his run before handing over to Charles Milesi in the n°36. However, race incidents impacted the team's plans. The safety car was called into action just as Charles Milesi entered the pit lane, forcing him to make a lightning-fast refuelling of five seconds before a second stop. The Frenchman also received a drive-through for crossing the line at pit exit, while the sister car was also penalised five seconds for creating a slight gap behind the safety car.

Tenth at the start of his triple stint, Olli Caldwell set off to quickly regain lost ground while Charles Milesi, then Matthieu Vaxiviere, kept big points in sight in the game of shifting strategies. Always quick to react, the team took advantage of another safety car period to try a strategic move. The excellent reactivity of the mechanics and the operations team allowed both Alpine A470s to gain positions before André Negrão and Charles Milesi returned to the track after a fourth safety car intervention.

The Frenchman - who set the fastest lap of the race in LMP2 - and the Brazilian put their best foot forward in their final double stints, crossing the finish line in seventh and eighth place. This performance also gave Alpine Elf #endurance Team its best result of the year with ten points in Belgium.

With more experience with the Alpine A470 and Goodyear tyres, Alpine Elf #endurance Team now look ahead to the centrepiece #event on the calendar, the centenary edition of the 24 Hours of Le Mans. Starting with the Scrutineering on Friday 2 June, the race week will be paced by several Alpine events, culminating in the world's most prestigious sportscar race on 10 and 11 June.
