Food security and reducing poverty, the celebrations at expo milano 2015 for the national day of Gambia

#Expo Milano 2015 is the top learning platform available to acquire and share knowledge on the themes of food security and reducing poverty in the world”. These were the first words by the Minister of Trade, Abdoulie Jobe, during the official ceremony for the #National Day of Gambia in the exhibition site. “For us, the Universal Exposition is a truly special opportunity to share the culture and tradition of Gambia with Italy and the whole world”, continued Minister Jobe, illustrating the contents of the Pavilion, which has chosen the theme “Sustaining the Growth of Micro, Small and Medium Sized Enterprises in Horticulture for Food Security and Poverty Reduction”. And he added: “I would like to heartily thank the entire organisation of Expo Milano 2015 and the Italian Government for having allowed our Country to participate in this grand event”. The Italian Under-Secretary for Defence, Gioacchino Alfano, also participated in the Gambia National Day, explaining how “the Universal Exposition allows everyone to try experiences full of wealth and values, based on the theme of food, which has always provided people with a privileged opportunity to meet each other and share knowledge”. After the ceremony, the delegations visited the Fruit and Legumes #Cluster where the Republic of Gambia is exhibiting, accompanied by traditional singing and dancing. Inside the #Cluster, traditional dishes made of rice, beef and fish were served, dressed with peanut sauce, sesame and cashew nuts and accompanied by the unmissable Baobab juice.
