Australian Open champion Aryna Sabalenka set to play the Porsche Tennis Grand Prix
- The 2021 and 2022 Stuttgart runner-up has already entered the 46th edition of the long-standing tournament.
- The current world No. 2 won her first career Grand Slam title in Melbourne.
- Caroline Garcia, the 2022 WTA Finals winner, will also be competing in the #porsche Arena.
- Last year’s winner and world No. 1 Iga Swiatek is going defend her title in Stuttgart.
Further top stars have signed up for the #porschetennisgrandprix: in addition to the title holder and world No. 1 Iga Swiatek, the recently crowned Australian Open champion #arynasabalenka and Caroline Garcia, winner of the 2022 WTA Finals, are both set to play in Stuttgart. The 46th edition of the long-standing tournament will be held in the #porsche Arena from 15 to 23 April.
Aryna Sabalenka has unfinished business in Stuttgart. Currently world ranked No. 2, she is already a two-time #porschetennisgrandprix runner-up. The chances of her securing the prestigious title and the main prize, a #porsche, at her third attempt look good. Of all the players, she is the one that has got off to the best start to the season. Before her triumph at the Australian Open, the 24-year-old won the WTA tournament in Adelaide and is still unbeaten this year.
“I’m really looking forward to Stuttgart and the fantastic atmosphere in the #porsche Arena”, she says. “I’ve always felt at home there. Maybe third time lucky! I’d love to win the #porsche.”
Caroline Garcia’s biggest success came when she won the 2022 WTA Finals in Fort Worth. Last year, the Frenchwomen also claimed the WTA titles at the #porsche supported tournaments in Bad Homburg and Cincinnati as well as in Warsaw. She is momentarily fifth in the world rankings. The 11-time WTA winner also has good memories of the #porschetennisgrandprix as she took the 2016 doubles title playing alongside Kristina Mladenovic.
Superstar Iga Swiatek, the unrivalled No. 1 in women’s #tennis and the WTA’s Player of the Year, won the 2022 Grand Slams in Paris and New York. Alongside her success at the #porschetennisgrandprix, she also secured the WTA titles in Doha, Indian Wells, Miami, Rome and San Diego. She already announced her intention to defend her title in the #porsche Arena in the lead-up to Christmas saying, “I loved the atmosphere in Stuttgart last year and I’m happy to confirm I’m going to play there in 2023.”
