January at the Brooklyn Museum

Happy New Year! We're looking forward to a 2023 that's full of inspiring art, courageous conversations, and just plain fun.

Here's a preview of how you can celebrate, gather, and take action with us this month and during the entire year to come.

Catch the last stop of the celebrated exhibition, Virgil Abloh: "Figures of Speech" in its final days. Now you can experience the show with an exclusive audio tour featuring three of Abloh's closest partners as they share his unique philosophy and process. This month is also your last chance to pick up exclusive Abloh merch in the shop he conceived as a vital part of the exhibition itself. "Like Abloh," wrote TIME, "the exhibit defies convention." The full experience closes for good January 29—don't miss it.

What does the rest of 2023 hold? The year starts off strong with Mary Enoch Elizabeth Baxter: "Ain't I a Woman," which connects Black women's fight for bodily autonomy to the legacy of Roe v. Wade. We're also thrilled to host a group show of contemporary artists reflecting on the complex and continuing legacy of the Great Migration. This summer too, a landmark exhibition celebrating the creativity, ingenuity, and global impact of African fashion will land in Brooklyn.

We'll join a global conversation around the fiftieth anniversary of Pablo Picasso's death by exploring the artist's impact through a feminist lens with writer and comedian Hannah Gadsby. And in the fall, a survey of a visionary voice in photography, installation, and performance enters the scene in María Magdalena Campos-Pons: Behold, as well as the first major exhibition of zines by artists working in North America, bringing attention to this unexamined but vibrant aesthetic practice.

It's going to be an incredible year, and we're grateful for the opportunity to share it with all of you.

See you soon!
