Community Watch: A participative project with ecological and charitable overtones that will be available from December 11th to 19th, 2021

After several months of sharing with its community, #alpina has given life to six exclusive watches, two from each universe, born from existing components and in line with a sustainable development approach. From December 11th, International Mountain Day, until December 19th, the Startimer Pilot Automatic Mistral, the Seastrong Diver 300 Automatic Blue Lagoon and the Alpiner4 Chronograph Granite will be available for online sale and in limited quantities. For each piece sold, 25 Euros will be donated to the Salomon Foundation, which works to support injured mountain professionals and their families.

To create these models, which belong to the sustainable initiative called Community Watch paying tribute to the environment, #alpina has chosen to reuse existing components within its manufacture in order to reduce its #ecological impact. Indeed, large quantities of components are destroyed each year or withdrawn from collections due to the introduction of new products.

This project is aptly named, since for several months, members of the #alpina community were able to vote to choose the movements, cases, dials, hands, bracelets and moreover the name of each watch - among 5,900 suggested names. With their help, #alpina was able to create three exclusive timepieces, one for each universe: the Startimer Pilot Automatic Mistral for the Air, the Alpiner4 Chronograph Granite for the Land and the Seastrong Diver 300 Automatic Blue Lagoon for the Sea.

In order to satisfy the members of its community who had opted for different combinations, #alpina also decided to offer for sale the second most successful models from each universe. Made from existing components, these six models are offered in limited quantities.

Air, Land, Sea

For the Land, the winning variation is equipped with a La Joux-Perret three-counter automatic movement. It has a blue dial with sunburst decoration and silver hands that match its steel bracelet and 44mm case perfectly. The second model offers an alternative with a dark grey dial.

Divers have opted for a 44 mm steel case coated with titanium PVD. Its midnight blue dial, reflecting the depth of the water, features luminescent silver hands topped with a hint of red. The whole is embellished with a blue NATO-style strap made from recycled plastic. The second version features a dial with a blue to grey gradient and is mounted on a navy blue rubber strap.

Finally, in reference to traditional pilots' watches, aviation enthusiasts voted for a steel case - enriched with a titanium PVD treatment, and mounted on a blue strap made of recycled plastic. Elegant silver hands hover over a blue sunray dial for enhanced legibility during flight. The additional combination is larger, with a 44 mm case (compared to 40 mm for the first version). Covered with a black PVD treatment, it houses a blue dial punctuated with red hour markers, all finished with a navy blue calf leather strap.

A tribute to International Mountain Day

After a pre-order phase for the #alpina community that participated in the development of these three models, from December 11 until December 19, the company will officially open the online sale of these timepieces to the public on the dedicated website.

December 11, a date consciously chosen by #alpina, since it is none other than International Mountain Day. What better way for the Swiss watchmaker to pay tribute to the world that has never ceased to inspire it since its beginnings in 1883?

This is a significant date not only for #alpina but also for the Salomon Foundation, with which the company is associated for this project. Indeed, the latter supports competitors and mountain professionals who are physically disabled as a result of an accident or illness, as well as their families in the event of their death.

For each watch sold, #alpina will donate 25 Euros to the Foundation to support its mission. In addition, in order to support the Foundation twice over, from the 11th to the 13th of December, #alpina will donate double this amount per watch purchased, i.e. 50 Euros.

*Offer not valid in the USA, Canada, UK, Ireland, Poland, Mexico, Japan, Russia and India.

ABOUT THE SALOMON FOUNDATION

Founded in 1999 by Georges Salomon, his family and the Salomon company, the Salomon Foundation has two primary goals: to make everyday life easier and assist in the social and professional rehabilitation of competitors and mountain professionals who are physically disabled as a result of an accident or illness; and to assist the families of deceased athletes and mountain professionals.

In two decades, the Foundation has assisted mountain guides, ski safety patrollers, athletes, ski and climbing instructors and canyoning guides by providing emergency allowances, financial aid for children’s educations, equipment such as wheelchairs and handicap accessibility to homes, and by enabling sport participation and delivering professional training and IT equipment.

WE SHAPE THE CHANGE, A SUSTAINABLE PROMISE

Since 2020, #alpina has been committed to preserving the environment and its nature, a source of inspiration for the company since its creation and to which it now wishes to return the favour. We Shape the Change, Alpina's new motto and the eco-responsible equivalent of the famous Reach Your Summit, aims to bring together under a single unifying principle all the Brand's initiatives aimed at reducing this destructive #ecological impact on our planet - partnerships, spontaneous actions, or even the production of watches by reusing existing components.

Even if #alpina is still in its early stage in terms of sustainable development, this is the direction the Brand is pointing for the upcoming years. Designing change, moving forward, living in harmony with its time and environment: these are the fundamental values advocated by all the actions undertaken by #alpina, present and future, to draw its community and the public’s attention to environmental issues.
