At 11am on March 5, the MICHELIN Guide Germany will announce its 2021 selection of restaurants that have been awarded one or more of the coveted Stars, a Bib Gourmand, a MICHELIN Plate or the MICHELIN Green Star.
Due to the current pandemic, the unveiling cannot take place at a formal award ceremony as in prior years. The ceremony will instead be held as a live digital event hosted on the MICHELIN Guide platform. The link to participate in the event is available here: https://youtu.be/_XXGsgbrmoo
In addition to the print version of the MICHELIN Guide 2021, users can also access a wide range of information on the award-winning restaurants via the MICHELIN Guide app and the website (http://www.guide.michelin.com/de).
Despite the difficult conditions caused by the pandemic, the MICHELIN Guide has continued to apply its traditional methods, drawing on a network of anonymous, independent inspectors. This approach has distinguished it for the last 120 years.
"The German fine dining industry continues to face an unprecedented crisis, while demonstrating creativity, determination and commitment. We felt it was particularly important for the MICHELIN Guide to rise to the occasion, sharing our recommendations with the gourmet community to highlight the achievements of Germany’s highly talented restaurateurs. Even in these difficult times, our inspectors have endeavored to put together a carefully researched selection of restaurants that is just as insightful as in previous years. Thanks to the commitment of the chefs and their teams, they were able to enjoy high-level, remarkable gastronomic experiences," said Gwendal Poullennec, International Director of the MICHELIN Guides.
In an effort to showcase the various professions in the restaurant sector, the MICHELIN Guide will also present three special awards (Service Award, Young Chef Award and Chef Mentor Award) to particularly deserving professionals.
