While the Jeddah Corniche Circuit was hosting its third Formula One race, the 2023 #nls season was getting underway on the Nürburgring Nordschleife
Double points finish for the Mercedes-AMG PETRONAS #f1 Team in Saudi Arabia
The second round of the Formula One season - the 2023 Saudi Arabian Grand Prix - took place last weekend. The premier class of motorsport was #racing the 6.174 km Jeddah Corniche Circuit for only the third time in the history of the series. George Russell and Lewis Hamilton started from third and seventh respectively on the grid. At the end of the 50-lap race, George crossed the finish line under the floodlights of Jeddah in fourth place, followed by Lewis in fifth. George was temporarily promoted to the podium when Fernando Alonso was handed a 10-second time penalty. However, this decision was subsequently overturned by the stewards after Aston Martin made use of their 'right of review'. Consequently, the Mercedes-AMG PETRONAS #f1 Team leaves Saudi Arabia with a solid points haul, and is now level on points with second-placed Aston Martin in the Constructors' Championship. The next stop on the 2023 Formula One calendar is Melbourne, where the Australian Grand will be contested on the weekend of 31 March - 2 April.
