Mercedes-AMG F1 W14 E PERFORMANCE for new F1 season unveiled
Formula One is back!

On Wednesday 15 February, 87 days after the season finale under the floodlights of the Yas Marina Circuit in Abu Dhabi, the Mercedes-AMG PETRONAS Formula One Team presented its new F1 car for the 2023 season - the Mercedes-AMG F1 W14 E PERFORMANCE. Under the banner headline of 'All in Performance', the team unveiled its second challenger of the new era of F1 regulations at Silverstone.

The W14 combines the lessons learned from a tough 2022 season. While retaining the underlying concept of its predecessor, the 2023 car builds on it with bold solutions. In terms of externalities, the W14 stands out not only for its architecture but also its livery. To boost performance, the Team returns to the iconic black look of 2020 and 2021 - years in which it won the F1 Constructors' Championship. Joining #lewishamilton and #georgerussell, Reserve Driver Mick Schumacher and Team Principal & CEO Toto Wolff at the ceremony, were this year's crop of apprentices and PETRONAS interns.

The engines are roaring again! Shortly after the launch of the W14, the team took the new car to the track for the first time during a filming day at the Silverstone Circuit. The first and only official winter test with the W14 will take place from 23-25 February at the Bahrain International Circuit, which will also host the first Grand Prix of the year a week later.

Mercedes-AMG Motorsport to field four cars in the Kyalami 9 Hour race
Mercedes-AMG Motorsport got its 2023 Intercontinental GT Challenge (IGTC) campaign off to a cracking start with an overall victory and a P3 in the Bathurst 12 Hour at the beginning of February. The second fixture in this highly competitive global #racing series, the Kyalami 9 Hour in South Africa, will be contested on the weekend of 23 - 25 February.

Mercedes-AMG travels to the Kyalami Grand Prix Circuit as leader in both the manufacturers' and the drivers' standings and will have four Mercedes-AMG GT3s on the grid for the nine-hour race. Mercedes-AMG Team GruppeM #racing represented by the driver trio of Maro Engel (GER), Mikaël Grenier (CAN) and Raffaele Marciello (SUI) will compete in the Pro classification. Customer Sports team SPS #automotive performance is entering two cars in the Pro-Am category: Reece Barr (IRL), Miguel Ramos (POR) and Luca Stolz (GER) will share the cockpit of the number 20 car, while the number 75 (officially registered as 'SunEnergy1 #racing by SPS #automotive performance') will be driven by Jules Gounon (AND) und Kenny Habul (AUS). The third driver of number 75 will be announced shortly. The fourth member of the Mercedes-AMG Motorsport contingent is Stradale Motorsport; the South African outfit is competing for the first time, and its number 86 Mercedes-AMG GT3 will be driven by local favourites Charl Arangies, Arnold Neveling and Clint Weston (all RSA).

Three other Mercedes-AMG GT3s will also be on the grid competing in the Kyalami Supercup: the number 3 car of Public Park Motorsport and the numbers 11 and 23 of Bigfoot Express #racing. For contestants in this national championship, the chequered flag will fall after the first 60 minutes of the Kyalami 9 Hour.

The Kyalami 9 Hour starts at 1pm local time (12:00 CET, 11:00 GMT) on Saturday 25th February.

"We were extremely successful in the 2022 Intercontinental GT Challenge season, posting three wins in four races, taking the manufacturers' title and claiming both drivers' championships. We would obviously like to reprise this exceptionally good result in 2023. With the victory for SunEnergy1 #racing and third place for the Mercedes-AMG Team GruppeM #racing in the Bathurst 12 Hour, we have got the new season off to a highly successful start. This gives us cause for optimism going into the upcoming Kyalami 9 Hour; it's a race that we also won the last time it was held. We wish our Customer #racing teams all good fortune in South Africa and look forward to an exciting weekend."

Stefan Wendl, Head of Mercedes-AMG Customer Racing
