Art At A Time Like This and PAMM Present: 8x5: Artists & Justice

Comunicato Stampa disponibile solo in lingua originale.

Pérez Art Museum #Miami (PAMM) hosts #artatatimelikethis, a nonprofit arts organization, for a panel discussion with thought leaders and artists about mass incarceration and inequalities in the justice system. Participating voices include Russell Craig, Chire Regans, Reginald O’Neal, and Exchange for Change director Kathie Klarreich. The conversation will be moderated by Barbara Pollack, Northeastern University School of Law, 1982, co-founder and co-director of #artatatimelikethis. The discussion will also touch upon the organization's public art project 8X5, named for the size of an average prison cell, which will be on display throughout the city during #Miami Art Week.

About Art at a Time Like This
Art at a Time Like This is a 501c3 that supports artists and curators in the 21st century, presenting art in direct response to current events. Utilizing public platforms (digital and in real life), this organization presents art in a nonprofit context, highlighting art as an invaluable conveyor of content, rather than a commodity. Their mission is to show that art can make a difference and that artists and curators can be thought leaders, envisioning alternative futures for humanity. Founded on March 17, 2020, by independent curators Barbara Pollack and Anne Verhallen, the organization serves the need for a new kind of alternative space to address the pandemic and other crises, ever addressing the question, "How can we think about art at a time like this?"

About 8X5
This timely public intervention in #Miami presents the work of artists responding to mass incarceration and inequalities in the justice system. Originally launched in #Miami in June 2022, 8x5 will return to #Miami in December 2022 during #Miami Art Week.

For this edition of 8x5, Art At A Time Like This plans to activate the exhibition on billboards and digital mobile trucks, bringing the artwork to the public at the #Miami Beach Convention Center, Miami Design District, Wynwood, various satellite fairs, and PAMM, amongst other #Miami arts organizations from November 29 to December 3. In collaboration with For Freedoms, the project presents formally incarcerated artists or artists affected by the justice system, alongside renowned artists and local #Miami artists collected from an open call.
