Few designs can remain relevant for a hundred years, which is why we are celebrating the Elmo 01 with a bright new expansion colour. 2022's Colour of the Year is Very Peri, a solid periwinkle blue that brings vivid presence to the striking simplicity of 1922's breakout silhouette.
The gateway model from our new Vintage Class channels the maverick spirit of Heinrich 'Elmo' Helm – our factory's Technical Director until 1928. His ideas were born out of both ambition and necessity, drawing on the ethos of the Bauhaus movement to streamline production and meet the demands of a growing educated class.
Today, his stripped-back styling taps a modern mood with the Elmo 01's handcrafted minimalism and a habit for doing the essentials right. Since its introduction, a new generation of writers has marvelled at its all-round performance and value. Now Very Peri does away with false modesty, offering boldness on a budget.
