Mercedes-EQ Formula E Team to visit Monaco's legendary streets for Round 6 of the 2021/22 ABB FIA Formula E World Championship this weekend.

  • The #monaco E-Prix will be held on the full Grand Prix Circuit without any changes to the track's layout for first time in Season 8 and will include Nouvelle Chicane.
  • Stoffel Vandoorne: "Monaco's track is iconic and it's a very prestigious race where everyone will be keen to secure a good result, so I'm pretty certain that all drivers and teams will have big plans for this particular event. We've had a good run of points just lately and hope to continue in the same vein at the weekend and maybe even improve a little"
  • Nyck de Vries: "The Rome weekend was tough on us, but we've got a bit of a home race this week in #monaco, so I'm really looking forward to being able to hit back there"
  • Ian James: "Visiting #monaco as a race team will always feel special. Not only are we excited to race on the iconic Grand Prix Circuit, we are also seeking a bit of redemption after last year's result - and I believe we are in a good place to realise that."

After the double header on Rome's street circuit, the Mercedes-EQ Formula E Team will be contesting the sixth round of the 2021/22 ABB FIA Formula E World Championship at the weekend which is one of the highlights of the year. This will be the fifth time that an E-Prix has taken place on Monaco's legendary street circuit.

The first three events were held on a shortened track layout, but the Grand Prix Circuit with its 19 corners was used for the first time in 2021 albeit with a slightly different configuration for Harbour chicane. Drivers will compete on the GP circuit in its entirety for the first time this year, including the typical Nouvelle Chicane, giving a track length of precisely 3.337 km, exactly the same as in Formula One.

Cars should reach a top speed of around 224 km/h after the Tunnel on the approach to Nouvelle Chicane, Turn 10. The percentage of time spent at full throttle over a lap is in the region of 56.4%. A 50 km/h speed limit will be enforced in the pit lane, and drivers will need approximately 22 seconds to cover its entire length.

The activation zone for Attack Mode will be on the outside of Turn 4 this year as drivers head towards Casino. Time lost while deviating from the #racing line to engage Attack Mode will be around 1.9 seconds.

Unlike just recently in Rome, the #monaco E-Prix is a one-day event with all sessions taking place on Saturday. Track action will kick off with P1 at 06:30 BST to be followed by P2 at 08:10 BST. Qualifying will get underway at 09:45 BST and follow the usual format; drivers will compete first in two groups before going head-to-head in qualifying. The #monaco E-Prix will start at 14:04 BST on Saturday.

Comments ahead of the #monaco E-Prix 2022

Stoffel Vandoorne:
"I'm really looking forward to driving in #monaco, as it's a bit of a home race for both Nyck and me. We weren't particularly successful there last year, but hopefully, we can improve this season. I feel well prepared for the race weekend, and we should be in a better position to start from further up the field this year given the new qualifying format. As you are well aware, a lot should then be possible after that at this track. I expect this E-Prix to be very tricky once again in terms of energy management, but it is hard to predict. Monaco's track is iconic and it's a very prestigious race where everyone will be keen to secure a good result, so I'm pretty certain that all drivers and teams will have big plans for this particular event. We've had a good run of points just lately and hope to continue in the same vein at the weekend and maybe even improve a little."

Nyck de Vries:
"The Rome weekend was tough on us, but we've got a bit of a home race this week in #monaco, so I'm really looking forward to being able to hit back there. #monaco has always been a very special place to race and things won't be any different this year. In any case, I'm really excited at the thought of contesting another E Prix on the streets of the Principality. We're already into the sixth race of the season which has picked up pace now, so here's hoping that we can have a great event there with a decent result for the team."

Ian James, Team Principal:
"Visiting #monaco as a race team will always feel special; the energy and excitement around this race is simply unique. This year will be no exception. Not only are we excited to race on the iconic Grand Prix Circuit, we are also seeking a bit of redemption after last year's result - and I believe we are in a good place to realise that. So far this season, the team has been really good at addressing learnings and working effortlessly on implementing those to fight back to the front of the field. However, there are still - and always will be - improvement points and it is up to us as a collective to put all those elements together to achieve what we want to achieve: the best results possible. I, for one, am excited; roll on Monaco
