ELECTRIC MOBILITY GIVES A NEW EDGE TO THE BENCHMARK IN THE LUDOSPACE MARKET
INNOVATING SINCE 1996
With Berlingo, Citroën invented the ludospace segment in 1996 for all those who lead a very active life, who have to travel extensively on a daily basis, who are involved in group activities (sports, leisure, active holidays, etc.) and who often have to travel with others. Since the launch of the third generation at the end of March 2021, Citroën Berlingo has held the second place in this market in Europe and it has continued to gain market share (+1 point in comparison with YTD 2020).
The third generation of Berlingo - 176,738 units sold globally since its launch in 2018 - now comprises an electric version, which lets drivers gain unrestricted access to urban low-emission zones, reduce their carbon footprint and contribute to a sense of well-being thanks to a smooth and silent electric driving style, while saving money due to the vehicle’s lower running costs compared with those which have an internal combustion engine vehicle (€3 of electricity used based on 18 kWh per 100 km, and servicing costs reduced by an average of 30%).
ELECTRIC MOBILITY ADAPTED TO THIS CUSTOMER PROFILE
Customers in this segment, who are not interested in monospace or SUV vehicles - considered to be too unwieldy or expensive in light of the space offered - are primarily looking for a versatile vehicle to transport people and items of all kinds, with a maximum amount of space (27%) and a large boot, practicality and modularity (13%), with a good equipment level (10%) and at an attractive price (10%). The ultimate family model (64% of buyers have one or two children), space on board and load capacity are considered as the priorities despite the vehicle’s compact dimensions, which make it easy to manoeuvre and park.
All of these elements can be found on the electric version of Berlingo, enabling customers to stay within budget and manage their impact on the environment.
2018 SIGMA study
NO COMPROMISE ON PRACTICALITY
With a cabin space of up to 4,000 litres, load length of more than 3 metres and boot space that can reach 2,126 litres, ë-Berlingo offers an interior that is best in class. Modularity and storage areas, which are an integral part of the vehicle’s DNA, facilitate its multiple uses: folding seats (seats in row 2 and two seats in row 3), 186 litres of functional storage space such as Modutop® (60-litre roof space and storage arch on the M version body type). This vehicle forms part of the family and comprises removable blinds, aviation tables and USB sockets in the rear - essential for children who love their tablet. In addition, it is reassuring thanks to the 18 driver-assistance and manoeuvring technologies - such as hands-free access and ignition or the Head-Up Display - provided to always make driving pleasurable
