FOUNTAIN VALLEY, Calif., April 27, 2021 – The 2021 Hyundai Santa Fe and Elantra have been awarded 2021 TOP #safety PICK awards from the Insurance Institute for Highway #safety (IIHS) when equipped with specific headlights. The #elantra and #santafe are Hyundai’s eighth and ninth vehicles to receive a 2021 TSP or TSP+ rating. #hyundai has seven models that earn the TSP rating and two earning TSP+ ratings and all #hyundai SUV models have TSP or TSP+ honors. #hyundai now ties for third place for the most combined TSP+ and TSP-rated vehicles in the #automotive industry today when equipped with optional front crash prevention and LED headlights.
“These top ratings prove our commitment to #safety,” said Brian Latouf, chief #safety officer, #hyundai Motor North America. “Being an industry leader in #safety and IIHS accolades is foundational to our brand, and we continually strive to provide outstanding passenger #safety to our customers.”
To qualify for TSP, vehicles must earn good ratings in all six IIHS crashworthiness evaluations, including the driver-side small overlap front, passenger-side small overlap front, moderate overlap front, side, roof strength and head restraint tests. They must also be available with a front crash prevention system that earns advanced or superior ratings in both the vehicle-to-vehicle and vehicle-to-pedestrian tests and good- or acceptable-rated headlights. For the higher-tier TSP+ award, good or acceptable headlights must be standard on all models, regardless of trim level.
