  • The latest programme of activities for children starts on 29 May 2020 at the #mercedesbenz Museum
  • Numerous free activities for children from the age of 3 at the CAMPUS
  • Tours of discovery at the exhibition in the footsteps of the history of mobility from 1886 into the future
  • Well devised hygiene measures make the programme possible

Stuttgart. The #mercedesbenzmuseum is looking forward to welcoming its youngest visitors and has numerous offers for them to discover and try out: As of Friday, 29 May 2020, the current programme for children aged 3 onwards starts. The focus is on creative activities at the CAMPUS on level 0 as well as opportunities to explore the permanent exhibition. “The long weeks of restrictions have meant that children and young people have also been particularly affected by the lack of shared experiences. We are therefore delighted to be able to offer them a colourful and attractive programme as of the coming Whit weekend,” says Monja Büdke, Head of the #mercedesbenzmuseum.

All the activities have been designed to account for the officially prescribed hygiene measures. These include coloured pencils that can be kept after the creative activities as well as the regular disinfection of surfaces and materials. Participation in all the activities is also only possible with an accompanying adult. The stipulations on physical distancing can be very easily implemented in the museum with its 16,500 square metres of exhibition space and the large exhibition rooms. The hygiene measures also specify that children aged 6 and over must wear a nose-and-mouth mask for their visit – as must all adults.

Since 9 May 2020, the #mercedesbenzmuseum has been open to visitors again, initially every Friday to Sunday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. The activities for children take place from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Entry to the museum is free of charge for children up to the age of 14. Young people from 15 to 17 years of age and trainees pay the reduced price of 5 euros for a day ticket.

Design and technology offerings for different age groups

With 160 vehicles and a total of more than 1,500 exhibits, the #mercedesbenzmuseum tells the fascinating story of #automotive and mobility history from 1886 into the future. Children are able to explore the themes of the exhibition for themselves in a creative way at the CAMPUS. The youngest guests aged 3 onwards are invited to draw, for example. They can either look into the “Fascination of Design” or draw their very own off-road vehicle – to go with the current special exhibition “40 Years of the #mercedesbenz G-Class”.

Children from the age of 5 can make their own jewellery pendants in “Sparkling Colours – Glitter Work”, or they can create personalised #mercedesbenz steering wheels in “The Fascination of Design”. Children aged 7 and up can make the off-road G-Class classic out of paper. And young visitors aged 10 onwards can build a four-stroke engine from a construction kit – this machine was there right at the start of #automotive history.

Through the museum with the Explorer Book, app or audio guide

The #mercedesbenzmuseum offers various materials which enable the permanent exhibition to be discovered from a child’s perspective. They include children’s formats on the audio guide, which is available for museum visitors free of charge. For children from the age of 6, there is also the little Explorer Book as well as various themed booklets on the “Kids’ Tours” in the exhibition. They are handed out at the CAMPUS.

The museum will continue to extend its current offering for children and young people – with ongoing adherence to the applicable hygiene provisions.
