Podium for Marco Wittmann and BMW in the final race of the season – All six BMW M4 DTMs in the top-ten

Hockenheim. BMW M Motorsport ended the 2018 #dtm season with a strong team result. #marcowittmann (GER), at the wheel of the BMW Driving Experience M4 #dtm, finished second in the final race of the year to take his place on the podium for the sixth time this season. Before the race he had secured his first pole position of the year in qualifying. Wittmann was joined on the podium by race winner René Rast (GER, Audi) and the new #dtm champion, Gary Paffett (GBR, Mercedes). All six BMW drivers came home in the top-ten and picked up points in the 20^th race of the season.

Bruno Spengler (CAN, BMW Bank M4 DTM) crossed the finish line in sixth place, ahead of Augusto Farfus (BRA, Shell BMW M4 DTM), Philipp Eng (AUT, SAMSUNG BMW M4 DTM), Joel Eriksson (SWE, BMW M4 DTM) and #timoglock (GER, DEUTSCHE POST BMW M4 DTM) in positions seven to ten. This represents the first time this year that all six drivers have finished in the points.

BMW ends the 2018 #dtm season, with 623 points, in second place in the Manufacturers Championship – behind Mercedes but ahead of Audi. Wittmann, with 164 points to his name, is the best-placed BMW driver in fourth place in the Drivers’ Championship. Glock is just behind him in fifth place with 144 points. BMW Team RMR ends the year in fifth place in the Team competition. Eng is the rookie of the year with 102 points.

It has been another spectacular season, with highs and lows for us. One positive aspect was definitely the fact that we were well positioned across the board. Every one of our six regular drivers finished on the podium at least once over the course of the season and we claimed four race wins.
