Monster Energy #yamaha Factory #mxgp rider #jeremyvanhorebeek finished on the podium on Saturday at #mxgp of the Americas, putting his YZ450FM to the test on a first-time motocross track at the Charlotte Motor Speedway in North Carolina. His teammate Romain Febvre struggled with the ruts but found good speed to come seventh overall on a shortened race program.

Kemea #yamaha Official MX Team rider Valentin Guillod crashed lightly in the first #moto on Saturday, but suffered a muscle spasm that severely restricted his breathing and was forced to abandon out of the points in the early race. The Swiss rider recovered after a physiotherapy session during the pause to finish 12th in the second #moto.

Van Horebeek started and finished both motos with consistent speed and aggressive positioning. The Belgian qualified fifth fastest in timed practice early Saturday after organizers cancelled all Friday qualifying races following heavy rain and wind from Hurricane Hermine that soaked the first-time motocross track.

The bright orange clay at the Charlotte dirt track remained in pristine condition after the hurricane passed, and riders quickly discovered a fast, slick and exciting race circuit on Saturday. Van Horebeek finished third in the first moto and fifth in the second. Febvre suffered a slower qualifying time and was ninth in the early race in bright sunshine. Under stadium lights as night fell the 2015 FIM Motocross World Champion was faster, finishing sixth in the second #moto for seventh overall.

Guillod found it extremely difficult to breathe after 13 laps of #racing in the first #moto and was disappointed to withdraw out of the points. Thanks to quick medical assistance from the team physiotherapist he recovered enough to feel comfortable and take the start in the second #moto, starting in eighth and holding his position in the rutted and broad corners, but fading over time to come 12th for 16th overall.

With his third place in Charlotte Van Horebeek gains on Evgeny Bobryshev in the 2016 FIM Motocross World Championship standings, holding on to sixth overall and trailing the Russian by nine points with one race to go. Febvre remains in fourth overall, and pulls to within 16 points of German Max Nagl. Guillod holds on to ninth and is 12 points clear of Shaun Simpson of Great Britain.
