Paul #diresta rounded off his strong performance at the opening #dtm weekend in #hockenheim with a win in the race two on Sunday. The Mercedes-Benz driver lined up on pole position and led from start to finish. Victory in race two, following his fourth place in Saturday’s opening race, sees the Scot top the overall standings. With track temperatures of 45 degrees, the race tyres of exclusive #dtm partner #hankook impressed as usual with plenty of grip, a high level of consistency and maximum safety.

Hockenheim/Germany, 8th May 2016 – Pole-sitter Paul #diresta got off to a perfect start in the second race of the 2016 #dtm season on Sunday and immediately pulled away from the field. Only during the pit stop on lap 13 did the Mercedes-Benz driver lose valuable time when a wheel became stuck. However, the Scot retained his lead and was the first to cross the finish line after 37 laps. Behind him, #timoglock (BMW) finished runner-up, while his #bmw team-mate Augusto Farfus was the third driver to see the chequered flag.

Gary Paffett put up a great fight. The Mercedes-Benz driver had moved up into second when he was awarded a drive-through penalty and dropped down to eleventh place. However, the Brit worked his way back through the field with skilful overtaking manoeuvres to finish fifth behind Maxime Martin (BMW). The best Audi driver was Nico Müller, who finished in eighth place. His fellow Audi driver Edoardo Mortara, winner of the race one, failed to finish in the points in twelfth place.

Hankook's #dtm race engineer Thomas Baltes: “The #hankook race tyre was incredibly consistent and, as usual, emphatically overcame every challenge it faced at the demanding Hockenheimring. Gary Paffett's performance was sensational. Without the drive-through penalty, the battle for the win would have been an exciting one, as Paffett's performance was on a par with that of Paul #diresta.”

Audi Sport Team Rosberg completed the fastest pit stop at the #dtm opener in #hockenheim, with a time of 23.747 seconds. As such, they receive 25 points towards Hankook's Best Pit Stop Award. The winning crew will also receive three cases of beer at the next race weekend at the Red Bull Ring in Spielberg. The DTM's exclusive tyre partner rewards the team with the most points, and thereby the fastest team, with a challenge cup, which has been coveted for many years.

Paul #diresta (Mercedes-Benz): "We had the fastest car and won the race. A big thumbs-up to the #hankook engineers, who really helped us deliver this fantastic performance. I'm hoping for similar results at the coming races in Spielberg."

Timo Glock (BMW): "The #hankook race tyres were fantastic after the pit stop. We set the optimum pressure and I was really able to push. I'm looking forward to more of the same at the Red Bull Ring in Spielberg."
