Julie Johnston's enduring dedication to Tiempo

U.S. Women’s National Team defender #juliejohnston burst onto the global soccer scene in Fall 2014 during the Algarve Cup in France, but her affair with the sport started young.
“My family has played a huge role in my soccer career. Growing up, almost every memory, vacation, whatever it was, was somehow centered on soccer,” she remembers. “They’ve been on this journey with me from day one when I laced up my first pair of cleats.”
Those cleats, incidentally, were #nike Tiempos. The silhouette has been on Johnston’s feet since the age of three. “I’ve worn #nike #tiempo since I was able to choose my own cleats,” she declares. “From then on, I’ve been hooked.” Johnston also wore the cleats during her memorable performance last summer in Canada, where the shrewd defender cemented her tenacious reputation, claiming a winner’s medal in the team’s victory.
Now, as Johnston prepares for the 2016 season with the USWNT and Chicago Red Stars of the National Women’s Soccer League, #nike looks at the woman behind the game-saving tackles and sneaky headers off corner kicks.
Johnston will wear the new women’s colorway of the Tiempo 6 during the USWNT’s next game on February 10th versus Costa Rica in Frisco, Texas. In addition to the new #tiempo, Johnston's teammates will be wearing new colorways of the Hypervenom II, Magista, and Mercurial from the recently released women's cleat pack.
