Tiffany & Co. created the US Open trophy won by Flavia Pennetta
For more than 25 years, #tiffany & Co. has crafted the Men’s and Women’s #usopen #tennis Championship Trophies, designed for the United States #tennis Association. The goal of greatness is crafted into every detail of this valued award.
- The #usopen #tennis Championship Trophies have been crafted by #tiffany & Co. since 1987 at Tiffany’s workshop in Rhode Island.
- Two trophies are presented annually by the president of the USTA to the winners of the #usopen men’s and women’s singles championship matches.
- Master artisans employ age-old techniques of spinning, silversmiting, casting, hand-engraving and polishing to create the trophies.
- Hand-crafted entirely of sterling silver, the trophies are designed in the style of a classic loving cup with cast handles and a spun finial.
- The trophies are crafted over a period of 5 months.
- The trophy awarded to each champion is hand-engraved with #event title and year, and later hand-engraved with the winner’s name.
- #tiffany & Co. also has the honor of creating the #usopen Series Trophy, awarded to the top male and female player during the summer’s #usopen Series. A special ceremony to present the trophies is held during the first week of the US Open.
Tiffany & Co. creates awards for many of the world’s greatest sporting events. Among them are the Vince Lombardi Trophy for the National Football League, the National Basketball Association Larry O’Brien Championship Trophy, Major League Baseball’s World Series Trophy, and the PGA TOUR FedExCup Trophy. Inspired by the transcendent form and energy of competition, these outstanding #tiffany designs are a lasting tribute to the athletes’ dedication and the highest standards of excellence.
