Press release available only in Italian

From 18 April to 30 August 2015 will host the exhibition "Elliott Erwitt. Retrospective "curated by Maurizio Vanni, organized by Lu.CCA - Lucca Center of Contemporary Art in collaboration with Magnum Photos Paris and produced by MVIVA. The exhibition is the third in a series of exhibitions organized by the agency in Paris, after those of Henri Cartier-Bresson and Robert Capa.

The exhibition aims to investigate the work of the American photographer, son of Russian Jews, known for his black and white photos depicting ironic and absurd situations every day, through 136 photographs representing a unique and comprehensive overview of the history of the photographer.

Having had as mentors Robert Capa, Edward Steichen and Roy Stryker, the Erwitt photography took its own style, at the same time intimate, ironic, surprising, sometimes cocky and gently irreverent, but always technically flawless. Even more evocative shots, are tied all'occasionalità of the moment, the here and now of a place and a time, the spontaneous smile in front of a scene or an atypical visual oxymoron.

Erwitt, as well as having an active imagination, has a great ability to observe people, animals, things and life through irony and disillusionment, insight and intelligence, playful spirit and mental refinement.
