A. Lange & Söhne grants “Best of Show“ trophy

Special model of the LANGE 1 TIME ZONE for owner of the most beautiful car at Concorso d’Eleganza On 24 May 2015, Lange CEO Wilhelm Schmid handed over a special timepiece to the American David Sydorick. The owner of an Alfa Romeo 8C 2300 Spider Zagato is the winner of this year’s Concorso d’Eleganza jury award “Best of Show“. His more than 80 years old car has been chosen as the most beautiful one during the traditional competition for classic automobiles and awarded with the exclusively made LANGE 1 TIME ZONE “Como Edition“. The unique timepiece was handed over on occasion of a gala dinner at the Villa d’Este, the venue of the Concorso d’Eleganza on Lake Como. In his speech, Wilhelm Schmid quoted the French painter Marc Chagall: “The true collector cannot be identified through the things he owns, but through those he would delight in having.” A successful collector is an innovator, someone who falls for a hidden gem that others have overlooked. “All it takes are knowledge, curiosity and this kind of gut feeling that leads to the best buys”, said Schmid. About 60 participants presented their classic cars in the attractive surrounding at Lake Como. A special event that raised much interest was the exhibition of BMW Art Cars. A. Lange & Söhne has been supporting the celebration of automotive artistry since four years. The LANGE 1 TIME ZONE “Como Edition” was designed to complement the competition’s most alluring automobile. The caseback of the white-gold watch displays the hand-engraved coat of arms of the Concorso d’Eleganza. In homage to the venue, Como represents Central European Time on the rotatable city ring.
