Moto3 - Gresini Racing: Productive day of set-up testing for Bastianini and Locatelli at Jerez

After last Sunday’s Spanish Grand Prix, the Gresini Racing Team Moto3 remained at Jerez de la Frontera to carry out today an important day of testing: Enea Bastianini and Andrea Locatelli made the most of good weather conditions working hard on their bikes’ set-up, with the aim of deepen the knowledge of their Honda NSF250RW machines. A job that has proved fruitful and that will serve as a basis when the team will be back on track in ten days for the first free practice for the French Grand Prix at Le Mans.

The only inconvenience was a fall for Andrea Locatelli in the morning, caused by the synthetic grass on the track which was still wet after rain. However, the 18-year-old rider from Selvino was able to continue testing, completing much of the work he had planned.

“It was a positive day of testing: at first I struggled a bit at the beginning to find the right set-up, but after performing various tests, we found the right direction. The thing that pleases me most is that I felt immediately the changes to the bike: this is good ahead of the next Grand Prix, because lately we have often spent too much time to find the right set-up at the beginning of the race weekend. Towards the end of the day I was able to be fast and to maintain a good pace, so now we look forward to Le Mans confident that we can be fast from the first practice”.

“The fall in the morning slowed down a bit our program, but we still managed to complete most of the work we had planned; in particular, we tried various changes to the gearbox and also new tyres that we will have from the next Grand Prix, reaching a good feeling. We studied in depth some aspects that were not yet entirely clear, so we will arrive at Le Mans with a lot more information that will certainly be useful both to me and to the team. We look forward to the French challenge with optimism”.

“Today we completed a very important day of testing, sharing a lot of work between our two riders and collecting valuable data which will definitely be useful for the rest of the season: we wanted to do it, because during the winter bad weather often halted our work on the bike. We tried many things in every area of the bike, from chassis to engine and suspensions set-up and now we can say we know it more deeply. This is confirmed by the good lap times set at the end of the day by Enea and also by the positive feelings reached by Locatelli, who despite a fall in the morning was able to continue testing and complete a good job”.
