Bitossi Ceramiche: excellence is a story In 2014 Bitossi Ceramiche was officially appointed as member of the Historical Enterprises Registry. An important acknowledgement and all in line with the essence of this Tuscanian company. The registry, established in 2011 by the Union of the Chambers of Commerce, builds a map of more than 1000 ultra-centenarian companies that led the growth of the Italian economical system by combining tradition and innovation. This registry was created basically focusing on the idea that the ethical dimension of an enterprise is nourished by their long history and that throughout the years this would constitute a heritage to preserve and pass over to younger generations. Bitossi Ceramiche, a productive business documented since 1871, exactly represents this dimension: along more than a century Bitossi Ceramiche made a treasure of its skills and craft capabilities in making ceramics and turned into a reputable brand for the world market and for the international design community. This unique and precious heritage layered in the skills of the ceramic masters who, generation after generation, perpetuate the ancient movements of throwing the clay, giving colour, decorate and lately fire it. But not only this: this heritage was physically “resumed” in the Bitossi Historical Archive which constitutes with its 7000 pieces a richness of ideas, ceramic experiments and styles to preserve for the future of design and modernity. At 2015 Salone this is the story that we are going to tell.
