Ducati wins in the European number one reader’s choice: “2015 Motorcycle of the year”

- The new Ducati Multistrada 1200 voted first in the “Crossover” category

- Ducati also wins in the “Cruiser/Chopper” category with the Diavel

- Two second places highlight still further the high level of approval of the Ducati bikes among readers of “Motorrad” magazine

Ducati is rewarded with a glut of awards by the expert readers of “Motorrad” magazine thanks to their votes for the “2015 Motorcycle of the year”.

48,118 readers voted for the Ducati Multistrada 1200 to win the “Crossover” category, with 22% of the total votes. This category, much-appreciated by motorcyclists, is dedicated to versatile all-round bikes, designed for a wide range of uses, giving great results both on the daily home-work trip and on long tourism tours or for a short evening ride close to home. It's a category which suits perfectly the Multistrada with its four-bike-in-one concept and four riding modes, “Touring”, “Sport”, “Urban” and “Enduro”.

The Ducati Diavel also obtained a first position in the readers' ranking, receiving 29% of votes and a clear advantage over the competition, winning the “Cruiser/Chopper” category.

Among the sports bikes, the 1299 Panigale gained second place, just 0.4% below the category winner.

When asked to vote for the most sporty brand among the motorcycle manufacturers, readers selected Ducati for the number one spot.

The Ducati Scrambler, launched not long before voting began, also earned a second place. The bike has already managed to win over the readers who voted for it in the new “Modern Classics” category, despite no test has been publishedyet.

The “2015 Motorcycle of the year” was the 17th consecutive edition of the large-scale annual survey among readers of the motorcycle press. The initiative is carried out simultaneously, following the same format, in nine countries. It's promoted by Motor Presse Stuttgart with “Motorrad”, the largest European magazine dedicated to motorcycle enthusiasts. 95,397 users, including 48,118 Germans, voted for their favourite models out of the 211 models competing in the various categories. Voters participating in the survey were only allowed to indicate one preference for each category. The survey results not only declared the winners for each category but also gave an evaluation of the individual manufacturers.
