TAD - Tortona Around Design - 2014
With great conviction Tortona Around Design is promoting and taking an active part on the new Milano Fuori Salone committee for the protection and enhancement of the Fuorisalone events. Nine profession- al enterprises with diverse but complementary experience, including the four design districts of Tortona Around Design, Brera Design District, Ventura Lambrate and Porta Venezia in Design, have united to give voice to the world of design and to collaborate effectively among themselves, and with the city’s institu- tions and other creative bodies. It wants an end to useless attention-seeking and conflict, seeking instead to generate ambitions of shared growth.
The returns will be seen both in commercial terms – easier access to the circuits means increased concrete solutions -, and in cultural ones – the exchange of knowledge and experience becomes a generator of re- newed creativity.
These are no empty declarations: this is a first real step towards a new way of conceiving business, a social behaviour that sees Milan once more as key player in a process of marked renewal. It is a renewal beginning on the smaller scale with the districts - which instead of sterile contrasts, now think in terms of exchange (the collaboration between Tortona Locations and Studio Labo is an excellent example) -, extending to the wider city sphere which seems at last to be working as a real system.
The change in name of the Zona Tortona circuit was made precisely to highlight this new open approach. It has been a far from easy task to mediate between individual and collective needs, and between commercial and cultural interests, promoting projects intended for an area – the district around Via Tortona and Via Savona - in an overall construction with a clear coherence of meaning.
