Víkingur Olafsson and J.S. Bach – the perfect pairing for a DG125 celebration

Dear Deutsche Grammophon fan,

Join us this week to discover the many intricate beauties of a keyboard masterpiece courtesy of Víkingur Ólafsson. Visit STAGE+ to watch his DG125 performance of Bach's Goldberg Variations at the Seoul Arts Center. Also, don't forget to explore our upcoming screenings on STAGE+ for a fantastic selection to enjoy during the festive period! Continuing our special anniversary celebrations is a new Eric Schulz video series all about DG's 125-year history – the first two episodes are out now. Meanwhile long-time musical partners Kian Soltani and Aaron Pilsan present a second Schubert song arrangement. Finally this week, with the festive season fast approaching, we invite you to explore a Classical Christmas playlist and join us on a musical journey through the Advent and Christmas traditions of different countries.

As we continue to mark Deutsche Grammophon's 125th birthday, the anniversary celebrations bring us to the Seoul Art Center for the latest recital in Víkingur Ólafsson's year-long worldwide tour of J.S. Bach's Goldberg Variations. The Icelandic pianist released his much-anticipated recording of this monument of the keyboard repertoire in October, to enormous critical acclaim. His Seoul performance was streamed live on STAGE+ earlier today and re-live screenings are available to STAGE+ subscribers.

DG125 – Víkingur Ólafsson: Bach's Goldberg Variations Live from Seoul

Víkingur Ólafsson's new recording of Bach's Goldberg Variations is without doubt one of the most eagerly anticipated releases of 2023: a long-awaited follow-up to his award-winning 2018 Bach album and a project that fulfils a long-held ambition for the Icelandic pianist. As part of a tour taking the work to venues around the world, this concert sees Ólafsson perform it to music-lovers in the South Korean capital and, via STAGE+'s live stream, to an audience around the globe.
