"DELLORTO's 'The perfect lap' at EICMA 2023

An event inside an event, that of DELLORTO at EICMA 2023. The perfect lap, started last January to celebrate the 90th anniversary of the Brianza-based company, reaches the final milestone of its celebrations at the Milan Motorcycle Show. An appointment that this year, as never before, will see DELLORTO committed to confirming itself as one of the most appreciated brands by sector experts, enthusiasts and the public even during the days of the exhibition.

The company founded in Seregno in 1933 arrives at EICMA 2023 with a booth of over 200 square metres, twice as large as last year. A stage will welcome events throughout the days of the fair and will see guests from the motorsport world (the presence of Giacomo Agostini, Paolo Simoncelli and Andrea Iannone has been confirmed) but also from the entertainment world take turns for the traditional meet & greet, product presentations and award ceremonies, in addition to DJ sets and moments for the public. In addition, for this edition, at the DELLORTO booth, sports journalist Mara Sangiorgio and Brand Ambassador Matteo Bobbi will lead the public and operators through insides of the brand's 90th anniversary. Presentations, interviews with guests and the company board, and above all an exclusive moment to announce a further imminent commitment by DELLORTO in the world of motorsport (on Wednesday 08.11 at 11:30 a.m.).

There will be no lack of surprises for all two-wheel enthusiasts, past and present, and of course the stars of the show won’t be missing. We are talking about the dream motorbikes, of various champions and championships, on display at the DELLORTO booth. From the historic MV Agusta 500 class of 15-time world champion Giacomo Agostini with DELLORTO "SS 30 A" carburettor, to the Gilera 250 class equipped with the VHSD with which Marco Simoncelli won the 2008 world championship. Also present at the booth there will be the Aprilia MotoGP 2021 of Maverick Viñales, with high-performance throttle body, the Ohvale of the FIM MiniGP World Series project and the Ducati that raced in the MotoE world championship and that DELLORTO equips with a package of sensors and software. Also on the booth there is the Moto3 of the Leopard team (Masia), currently leading the championship, with DoPower1 electronic control unit and DoPowerEVO dashboard.  The iconic vintage Vespa is also among the vehicles on display, as well as an overview of E-Power projects related to electrification with the Fantic scooter, the Platum scooter and a couple of Industrial projects.

DELLORTO at EICMA 2023 promises a journey through time along the 90 years of its history between past, present and the important anticipations of the future of products made in Brianza on the tracks and the roads of the world. Carburettors, throttle bodies, electronic control units, EGR valves, fuel pumps, but also the many products linked to the E-POWER project and the innovative Ride-by-wire engine control system developed by DELLORTO that will finally bring this technology within reach of all motorbikes.

CARBURATOR, FROM REX TO 90 Anniversary

Starting with the carburettor, the heart and symbol of the Brianza-based company, the booth will also feature the only existing example of the REX.  Created in 1933, it was the carburettor that kick-started a family history that has been stirring the emotions of many engine enthusiasts for three generations. In order not to forget where it all began and to celebrate its history, DELLORTO will present the PHBG 90 Anniversary carburettor at EICMA.

A product created to celebrate DELLORTO's 90th anniversary but above all intended for the many motorsport enthusiasts. Specifically designed for racing use only, it will be available for sale at all authorised distributors from the end of the event.

Compared to the 'standard' PHBG, the 90th edition boasts -among other improved specifications- a 15% increase in air flow, a more prompt delivery thanks to the new Venturi geometry, a new Ni-Teflon anti-friction treatment of the throttle valve and a chromed Avional mixture chamber cover. Not just a collector's item but a true high-performance carburettor.

E-POWER, THE ALL-ROUND MOBILITY OF THE FUTURE

The perfect tour of DELLORTO's history and technologies on show at EICMA will also take the form of the E-POWER project. It was launched in 2019 with the aim of creating a complete range of electric powertrains for the urban mobility of our cities and the smart cities of the future to equip small electric vehicles. From the 250W of the scooter to the 15kW of the heavy quadricycle. A strategy in line with the European and global objectives of reducing the carbon footprint as well as a more sustainable and interconnected mobility.

The E-POWER project offers not only a product but also a 360° service capable of following customers in all phases of the design of the electrical application. From performance simulation for the choice of powertrain, to system definition, to interfacing with vehicle components, up to the application, the testing, the calibration and homologation phase.

DELLORTO will arrive at EICMA 2023 with its complete new range. As many as 5 inverter sizes segmented according to the maximum current that can be delivered. Alongside the range of inverters all integrated with the Vehicle Control Unit (VCU) and DC/DC, DELLORTO completes the electric powertrain with 2 sizes of battery pack and electric motors in addition to the charger.

In addition to urban mobility, DELLORTO confirms the cross-sectoral focus of the E-Power product for the industrial and also power storage sectors.

DELLORTO will also present at EICMA the brand new product in the E-INDUSTRIAL range of E-POWER, which represent a FULL ELECTRIC PLUG and PLAY solution, therefore completely interchangeable, of the well-known ICE solutions of stationary motors.

THE RIDE-BY-WIRE FOR ALL MOTORBIKES

But the journey through innovation and the DELLORTO story at EICMA 2023 does not end here. The new VENICE system will also be presented. The ride-by-wire is finally available for all motorbikes.

Thanks to sophisticated engineering solutions DELLORTO will present a product for single- and twin-cylinder engines that will offer hitherto unknown possibilities for mid-range motorbikes.

With innovative torque-based control, the DELLORTO system allows a streamlined approach to calibration, specifically tailored to the needs of motorbike manufacturers.

The electronic throttle control developed by DELLORTO departs from conventional automotive systems by dispensing both filling patterns and manifold vacuum targets. The presence of the electronic throttle body ETB will offer state-of-the-art content, such as riding modes, traction control, cruise control and quick-shifter.

The new ECU, named 'VENICE', has been designed into two models. The complete version with 80 poles, and the 'Lite' version specifically for single-cylinder engines with a 48-pole connector.

System designed from the outset to meet all the most stringent emission, diagnostic and functional safety standards, according to EURO5.2, BS6.2, OBD2 stage2, ISO26262 requirements.

The new Ride-by-wire system complements the throttle cable-controlled throttle system, controlled by the 'Monnalisa' ECU, which already offers some advanced solutions, such as riding modes and traction control borrowed from the ECU used for over ten years in the Moto3 World Championship.

"The perfect lap. Our perfect lap, started with the launch of our brand manifesto, has seen us retracing the 90th anniversary of DELLORTO throughout a year of celebrations, events and open days.  It is a lap that arrives and concludes at EICMA 2023 and is still full of surprises, precisely designed for this final sprint. We intend to give unique emotions through our history, the motorbikes on display, our motorsport friends and our products, from yesterday and today. Exhibiting the Rex and bringing to life a specific carburettor such as the DELLORTO PHBG 90 Anniversary exemplify this, of how we intend to celebrate -with the many enthusiasts- our love for engines through what for us is more than a product. This is what we are and this is what our three-generations’ family and our Made in Italy way of doing things is able to bring wherever there are roads or tracks. A passion that today also animates the whole world of the E-Power project and the innovative Ride-by-wire system that projects us towards the future. Launched towards a new ride, with the aim of always improving, aiming at the next goal.
