Happy memories inspire Team HRC for final stretch

The final three rounds of the 2023 #mxgp World Championships hold a lot of good memories for #teamhrc, and they’ll be hoping to add some more in these next few weeks, starting with the #mxgp of Turkiye this weekend.

Last year #timgajser was able to win in Turkiye for the first time, after previously just collecting a couple of race wins since the track was introduced onto the calendar in 2018, so the Slovenian is heading there with a lot of confidence that he can challenge for the podium spots that have so far eluded him since his return to action. Whilst he hasn’t been inside the top three, these last few GPs have provided some valuable testing experience and will be extremely useful for the 2024 campaign, when the #243 will be looking to regain his world championship crown.

Teammate #rubenfernandez hasn’t had the same success that Gajser has had in Turkiye, but he is heading east with the belief that he will be lining up on the gate much closer to full health than he has done in a number of weeks. The Spaniard has put in some really impressive rides since his incident in Finland, but he has always known that things could be better and now, after a weekend off, he will approach the challenge of the Afyon track in much improved condition.

There don’t seem to be any major layout changes, so although there might be some minor tweaks, this will essentially be the same track the riders have ridden these past few years. With the weather around 30C and little chance of rain, it will be a hot, hard-pack experience once again and while entries are down from the last round, it will still be a considerable challenge against the fastest motocross riders in the world, for this 17th round of the 2023 season.

Ruben Fernandez 70

It’s been good to have this weekend off, just to recuperate and get myself ready for this final stage of the season. Arnhem was tougher than I hoped it would be, but overall there were still a lot of positives to take away from the event and that gives me a lot of confidence that this round in Turkey will go well. I haven’t done too many races there, but it is good to have a hard-pack track again and although it will be hot, I am looking forward to just coming into the weekend feeling a lot better.

Tim Gajser 243

Turkey is a track I really like and I’ve won at before, so that is definitely in my thoughts as I head there again this year. We’ve made some good progress since I’ve returned to #racing and while the overall results haven’t been there, I still feel good about where we are. Now I really want to finish this season off strongly and I fully believe that can happen this weekend, where I’ll be aiming for the podium positions.

The team are very much looking forward to these final three rounds, as they are at tracks that are usually good for us. Tim has won in Turkey, Maggiora and at Matterley Basin before so that’s definitely positive and he’s certainly hoping that he can challenge for wins again this year in these rounds, whilst Ruben has also had some good rides in these tracks. Afyon is a nice event for the team, and even though it is a flyaway, it is a very well-organised event and one we enjoy attending.
