2023 Volkswagen ID.4 EV and Tiguan named to Cars.com's 2023 Car Seat Fit Report Card

  • Tiguan and ID.4 earned top grades in each category, making them two of only seven vehicles that made the “honor roll”
  • Second year in a row that both vehicles have been given top honors in the Car Seat Fit Report Card

Volkswagen of America, Inc. is pleased to announce that #carscom gave top marks to the 2023 #volkswagen #id4ev and #tiguan in its 2023 Car Seat Fit Report Card. This marks the second year in a row the compact SUVs have been given top honors—they comprise two of only seven vehicles to earn “honor roll” status.

“For parents looking to purchase an #suv that fits the whole family, be sure to consider Volkswagen's #tiguan and all-electric ID.4. They not only each sport a sizable backseat without compromising on passenger legroom, installing car seats is painless—with both easily acing our Car Seat Check. Exposed Latch anchors make for convenient access, and their seat belt buckles are incredibly user-friendly—even for children in booster seats,” says Jennifer Geiger, #carscom News Editor and Certified Child-Passenger Safety Technician.

The 2023 Car Seat Fit Report Card was determined by car seat installations throughout the year in 56 different vehicles. Since Cars.com’s Car Seat Checks program debuted in 2010, more than 700 vehicles have been evaluated. Certified safety technicians installed an infant car seat, a convertible car seat and a booster seat into every vehicle tested.

During the car seat installation, technicians closely examine the Lower Anchors and Tethers for Children (LATCH) system. The car seats were installed in the second row of the vehicles, and in three-row vehicles, with forward-facing car seats installed in the third row to test ease of accessibility. #carscom tests vehicles as they are made available by automakers.

“Volkswagen is proud to have models acknowledged as three of the best in this year’s Car Seat Fit Report class,”  said Thomas Zorn, Vice President of Vehicle Safety, #volkswagen Group of America. “This recognition is a testament to the care taken in the research and development of our vehicles regarding the areas of safety and functionality.”

The ID.4 is Volkswagen’s first all-electric #suv, and starting in 2023, assembly was localized in the company’s state-of-the-art plant in Chattanooga, Tennessee. Built on Volkswagen’s MEB electric vehicle architecture, the ID.4 marries the strengths of a purpose-built #ev with performance, packaging and value—features that have marked the brand for decades. The entry ID.4 Standard with a 62 kWh battery starts at $38,995 MSRP for 2023 and all ID.4s are eligible for the full Federal #ev tax credit of $7,500.

Tiguan combines Volkswagen’s hallmark fun-to-drive character with a spacious interior and flexible seating. The brand’s best-selling vehicle slots above Taos in the compact #suv space and offers refinement and an advanced feature set at a value price point—MSRP for 2023 starts at $26,950.
