Exhibitors for Inaugural Edition Announced

PHOTOFAIRS #newyork Launches Inaugural Edition this September with Exhibitors from Around the World

Fair brings together major galleries with cutting-edge interdisciplinary spaces to explore the past, present, and future of photo-based practices and image-making

PHOTOFAIRS #newyork, the new #contemporaryart fair dedicated to photo-based and digital artworks, today announced the exhibitors for its inaugural edition, launching September 8-10, 2023 (VIP Preview on September 7) at the Javits Center. Organized by Creo, #photofairs #newyork adds a new and distinct dimension to the global fair landscape, exploring the diverse and rapidly evolving practices of image-making and photography from modern examples to contemporary intersections with digital art to the medium’s next frontiers.

Running alongside The Armory Show, #photofairs #newyork cements the first week of September as the annual pulse point on New York’s arts calendar. The fair’s debut edition welcomes a highly curated selection of 61 exhibitors from around the world, from renowned photography dealers to interdisciplinary #contemporaryart galleries, to organizations at the forefront of emerging technologies. Exhibitors were chosen by the fair’s esteemed Selection Committee: Sebastián Alderete (ROLF ART, Buenos Aires); Amanda Coulson (TERN Gallery, Nassau); Nicholas Fahey (Fahey/Klein Gallery, Los Angeles); and Putri Tan (Gagosian, #newyork & 19 cities worldwide), in collaboration with #photofairs #newyork Director Helen Toomer. The fair is organized by Creo and its
majority shareholder Angus Montgomery Arts, one of the world’s leading art fair organizers, and in collaboration with Candlestar.

Representing more than 20 cities including Seoul, Lisbon, Paris, London, Milan, and Buenos Aires, #photofairs #newyork convenes a cross-section of influential voices across the global spectrum of image-making today. The fair introduces several galleries to #newyork audiences for the first time, including ART IS BOND. (Houston), 193 Gallery (Paris), Gaotai Gallery (Xinjiang), Les filles du calvaire (Paris), McBride Contemporain (Montreal), Shun Art Gallery (Tokyo), and Troconi-Letayf & Campbell (Mexico City), who join the list of celebrated local and national exhibitors, alongside fair partners, showcasing their artists and programs
at the center of the global market for photography and #contemporaryart.

Alongside the booth presentations, #photofairs #newyork features a range of special projects, innovative large-scale installations, and publishing projects by programming partners including Baxter St at the Camera Club of #newyork, Fotografiska, Gagosian Quarterly, and Jamaica Art Society. These partners, as well as other leading organizations for photography and #contemporaryart, are also collaborating with the fair on a dynamic conversation series engaging a group of thought leaders in the field. Additional programming partners include 21c Museum Hotels; Aperture; Center for Photography at Woodstock; The Cultivist; Dear Dave, Magazine; India Art Fair, and International Center of Photography. A complete schedule of talks and participants will be announced in the coming weeks.

“PHOTOFAIRS #newyork brings together a global network of galleries and interdisciplinary spaces that have championed photography for decades, and also support artists breaking boundaries in the field of image-making today,” said Helen Toomer, Director, #photofairs #newyork.
“Our commitment to integrating exhibitors across distinct mediums for the inaugural edition enables our audience to discover new technologies and rediscover photography’s rich history. We’re looking forward to unveiling more details of our program in the coming weeks and opening the doors of #photofairs #newyork in September.”
