Exhibition preview
May 29th - 12.30 p.m. - #mann Auditorium
The National Archaeological Museum of Naples (MANN), together with the Ministry of Culture and the Contini Art Gallery presents from 27 September 2023 to 6 January 2024, in the Salone della Meridiana, a solo exhibition of the master #manolovaldes. The famous Spanish artist will exhibit for the first time in Naples and Southern Italy. The exhibition will be illustrated on Monday 29 May, at 12.30 p.m., at a press conference in the #mann Auditorium. Valdés, represented by the Contini Art Gallery exclusively for Italy since 2016, draws on the Spanish artistic heritage, in particular Velázquez and Picasso, and the informal art of his immediate predecessors. Due to the uniqueness of the artist's vision and creative approach, Valdés's works are a very happy match for the spaces of the #museo Archeologico Nazionale di #napoli in a juxtaposition that compares the research and experimentation of the new with the elegance and tradition of the ancient. This unprecedented encounter represents a new chapter in the constant cultural dialogue between the #mann and
Spain, whose roots are in the very history of Naples, and which this year has already been enriched with the exhibition 'Picasso and the Ancient' (currently in progress, the only Italian one in the official calendar of the celebrations for the 50th anniversary of his death) and with the forthcoming exhibition at the #museo Marítim in Barcelona 'Pompeya, el último gladiator', which enhances the treasures of the repositories.
