CASA #seat is inaugurating a new art exhibition on 9 May in collaboration with The Barcelonian, a collective illustration project that pays tribute to the legendary weekly magazine The New Yorker through the covers of an imaginary journal. The exhibition will feature 30 illustrations created by emerging artists from Barcelona such as Cristina Losantos, Caro Monterrubio, Asis Percales, Elsa Suárez and Carmen Segovia, among others. The artworks will be inspired by the city of Barcelona and must incorporate one of the following values: culture, mobility, sustainability and innovation.

All the works exhibited will be part of a competition to decide the illustrator assigned to design the cover of the #casaseat 2024 book, with a print run of 1,000 copies in three languages. The voting process will consist of two phases: the first selection will be made by visitors to #casaseat, who will get to vote for their favourite illustration by filling in a form; the second will be made by a specialised jury that will announce the winner at the end of the exhibition on 23 June.

Mobility and sustainability in the city

On 6 May, Pablo Murillo Barrionuevo is presenting his new book entitled SEAT 600 Carrocerías Especiales, su historia y sus creadores, an in-depth analysis of the history of cars with special bodywork derived from the #seat 600, covering from the early examples with bodywork in 1957 to the last models presented to the public in 1982. The book contributes to understanding the Spanish car scene in the 50s, 60s and 70s and to appreciating the efforts of the creators of these cars, which have become coveted collector’s items.

On the 11th, a new edition of “ADI Making Of” will take place, in which different projects will be presented with the aim of making Barcelona a more liveable city, with special emphasis on the quality of life of children. The projects “El pop del parc de la Pegaso” by Jordi Queralt, “Landskate Parks” by Sergi Carulla and Oscar Blasco and “El Parc de les Glòries” by Ana Coello and Pilar Llop will be explored in depth.

On the 19th, visitors will discover the new CUPRA Tavascan with José Luis Fernández, from CUPRA Design, and Ana Moreno, from the brand’s Product Marketing team, who will explain the features and performance characteristics of the brand’s latest model. In addition, from 15 to 20 May, the pCUPRA Tavascan will be on display on the ground floor of the #casaseat building. Officially unveiled on 21 April in Berlin, the CUPRA Tavascan has remained true to its origins in 2019 as a concept car, a fully electric SUV that defies the status quo to offer a unique driving experience.

A talk is scheduled for 30 May on projects and solutions to promote sustainability in Barcelona. The panel of experts will be made up of Noemí Salas, an environmental specialist, and Valeria Olivari, a journalist specialising in circular economy, waste management and sustainable development. The communicator Esther Sardans will provide the attendees with context about the challenges of the 2030 Agenda and will moderate the session.

Successful young entrepreneurs

On the 18th, three young entrepreneurs from Barcelona will share their experiences and advice on “How to start a business before the age of 30”. Nora Vallcorba, co-founder of Nora Real Food, Pol Hevia, co-founder and CEO of Spathios, and Óscar Valledor, co-founder and CEO of PJ. Lobster, will explain how the idea for their businesses came about, the obstacles they had to overcome and how they managed to turn their projects into a success. The session will be moderated by Paula Clemente, a journalist specialising in economic information, emerging companies and start-ups.

On the 23rd, entrepreneur and communicator Pau Garcia-Milà will talk with Carlos Duran, co-founder of the hoy-voy driving schools and named Young Entrepreneur of the Year by the AIJEC (Association of Young Entrepreneurs of Catalonia), about how he found the entrepreneurial balance between business and his personal passions.

Musical Saturdays

On Saturday the 6th, pianist Fëdor Veselov is giving a recital in which he will pay his personal tribute to the composer Sergei Rachmaninoff in the year marking the 150th anniversary of his birth. The programme will include “Six Musical Moments”, a series of pieces composed in 1896, and his “Piano Sonata No. 2”. Rachmaninoff is considered one of the great post-Romantic European composers and one of the most influential pianists of the 20th century.

On the 13th, the Delis Duo, formed by cellist Irma Bau and pianist Irina Veselova, are presenting “Jo soc música” in collaboration with Joventuts Musicals de Barcelona and Joventuts Musicals de Catalunya. This project aims to trace the history and recover sheet music of 19th and 20th century female composers such as Dora Pejačević, Nadia Boulanger, Henriëtte Bosmans and Rebecca Clarke in order to reclaim the role of female creators in the history of music.

That same day in the afternoon, violist Isabel Villanueva will be presenting her second album, Ritual. The aim of this work by the artist from Navarre is to offer a ritual of musical contemplation, a mystical exhibition and an intimate conversation based on the honesty and fragility of the human being. The audience will discover the infinite possibilities offered by the viola thanks to the virtuosity of Villanueva, who will provide a listening experience of compositions by Bingen, Kurtág, Bach and Biber.

On the 20th, the auditorium will once again be the backdrop for the artists of Generation Z with a new session of the “BCN Z Sessions”. On this occasion, the electronic indie pop duo vangoura will present Mudar la piel, their first studio album co-produced with Blackpanda, in which they present different scenarios related to the passage of time. The duo formed by Miguel Figueras and Ignacio Alarcón covers different styles, such as indie pop and British alternative rock, with influences of funk, electronic music and bedroom pop.

Entertainment with Guillem Estadella and the Vilapuig actor-sisters

On 17 May, the second edition of “La Graella” will take place, a late-night #show presented by comedian Guillem Estadella and a team of collaborators made up of Raventós, Òscar Nin and Laia Castelló.

The programme is a space where culture, entertainment and fun come together to offer a unique night-time experience with special guests, interviews, comedy sketches and live performances.

As part of the cycle “The Making of DAMA”, on 26 May sisters Joana and Mireia Vilapuig, the stars of Selftape, the third original series on Filmin, will explain the creation process of this work together with its director Bàrbara Farré (La última virgen, Todas las veces que nos enamoramos). This drama with autobiographical overtones tells the story of two young actresses who became successful at a very young age and reflects on family relationships, success and the concerns of a generation.
