Ton launches new items in three sought-after collections at Salone del Mobile

The 822 and 811 collections have been expanded by Claesson Koivisto Rune and the P.O.V. product family by the German duo KASCHKASCH. These new items were TON’s main theme for this year’s Salone del Mobile in Milan, which takes place from 18 to 23 April 2023. On this occasion, the brand is exhibiting as part of the S.Project concept in hall 10, stand D20 and, in addition to the above-mentioned new products, it has also brought products launched in previous years and some hand-bent models.

A new version of the 822 Collection the distinctive version of the A811, designed by Josef Hoffmann in 1930, with its striking dot perforations is available from this spring. The Swedish studio Claesson Koivisto Rune worked with #Ton to prepare an upholstered version. “The 822 and its distinctive pattern have become iconic. By developing a version with an upholstered seat, we can not only provide a softer version suitable for situations requiring greater comfort, we can also add character by creating a family,” stated Claesson Koivisto Rune. “The perforations were never the sole highlight of the 822. Since its inception, we have attempted to create a contemporary chair that encapsulated the essence of the classic A811. The upholstered 822 is a logical addition,” adds the trio of Swedish designers.

A chair, armchair, bar stool in two heights, stool and lounge chairs both with and without armrests all use straps attached to the seat frame for a comfortable sitting experience. The models also combine the use of shaped plywood in the backrest and hand-bent solid beech wood, which can be finished with stains or pigment colours; alternatively, the natural character can be allowed to shine by simply using lacquer or oil. Just like other #Ton models, the 822 Collection is made from wood certified under the PECF system, which focuses on the sustainable use of forests and a responsible approach to the forest ecosystem. The plywood is made from wood that comes from within a 30-km radius of the #Ton factory in Bystřice pod Hostýnem.

The lines of the popular 811 series are now complemented by a lounge chair, again by Claesson Koivisto Rune and again with or without armrests. The seat and backrest come with upholstery, or a cane weave, or a combination of the two. This lounge chair will find a use in both private interiors and commercial premises, where it enhances the full character of the product family, which also consists of chairs, dining chairs and bar stools.

The coffee tables by German studio KASCHKASCH are a new version of the P.O.V. modular #table system launched in 2021. The name refers to the organic #table leg, which has a rounded triangular form, giving it a unique appearance from every point of view. “This collection’s character comes from the materials used and the appearance of the leg, which is composed of three bent plywood sheets in the same shape, and forms the basis for an entire family of tables,” explained designer Florian Kallus. The three new options are no different, but they are suitable for private interiors and lounge zones. “We took the shape of the base and created a coffee #table from it. I think it’s entirely logical to add it to the collection, and at the same time, it’s an essential step,” Kallus added.
