The Brazilian artist Alê Jordão arrives at Fuorisalone 2023 with an installation tribute to the architect Carlo Mollino

From the 18th to 23rd April, the Brazilian artist #alejordao returns to the 61st edition of the Salone del Mobile, the most important event in the world in the #design field. The artist from São Paulo is taking part in Fuorisalone for the 17th time, bringing his creative and exclusive pieces to Milan. #alejordao participates, along with other artists, in the exhibition "HOMAGE TO CARLO MOLLINO" at the #galleriapaolacolombari in the Brera district. The exhibition is a commemoration of the fiftieth anniversary of the death of Italian architect #carlomollino (1905 - 1973).

Also known as "light man", the designer will present his neon installation "Carnaval".
"I was very struck by the extraordinary work of #carlomollino, his scenographic pop surrealist vision of the former Lutrario cinema, now Dancing Le Roi, in Turin, a project from 1959", explains Jordão, who was inspired by the playful lighting effects and colors proposed by the Italian architect.

The "artwork" is revealed through an iron arch: 1 meter wide and 2.20 meters high, painted in pink with the neon writing Sexy Pink . "It is my welcome to visitors, an invitation to get to know my version of the Lutrario", explains Jordão, who will transform one of the gallery spaces into a real ballroom. "People pass under the arch and come across another installation inspired by neon, colored geometric shapes, with 5 neon floor lamps 1.60 meters high in yellow, blue, orange, green, and pink. The same colors that #carlomollino used in his original project".

The Brazilian artist will also be in Milan to donate another of his projects to the city. The ConectART-GuardRail street furniture installation which will be placed in Baden Powell Park. "Last year, during Milan #design Week, I had the opportunity to decorate some of the most important public spaces in Milan with my sculptures made from guardrails (iron fences) that ended up as furniture. Benches and chairs with their twisted shapes became an inspiration for the #design of each piece of furniture", explains the Brazilian designer. The inauguration will be held on April 15, at 11, three days before the official opening of the Salone del Mobile.
