HOST&HOME is a project developed by Ministry of Commerce of Thailand since 2015, through the Department of International Trade Promotion (DITP), to support local entrepreneurs in the perspective of designing and creating different and unique lifestyle products
The goal is to create modern #design products that can be placed in contexts such as hotels, homes, or residences and that can make #people used to frequent traveling always feel at home.
Ms. Anongnart Mahasawat, Director of Thai Trade Center Milan, says "The project was born to introduce Thai entrepreneurs into the Italian and European hospitality sector and try to improve the access of Thai products to the market, bringing a team of Italia product development to give advice. The goal is to be able to give advice and recommend companies, and to exhibit the prototypes at the Salone del Mobile.”
In 2023, for the seventh year, the project will be exhibited at the Salone del Mobile (Hall 18, stand D01). This year there will be a great novelty: Matteo Ragni is the curator chosen by the DITP. He has been entrusted with the choice of the exhibition concept helping the companies in their development and advising them in the choice of the products closest to the European market.
“It was a pleasure for us to be able to share with 12 Thai producers, so geographically and culturally distant from us, yet so similar to the principles of equitable #design, respecting one's roots,” says #matteoragni. “All companies - despite their uniqueness - can combine craftsmanship with modern production processes, and dialogue with an increasingly demanding global market.”
This is how he defines the exhibition concept: "The exhibition will be called "New Natural Landscape". To show the essence of the best Thai production we have created a space in which an imaginary forest is staged, where it will be possible to harmoniously discover the different collections of the 12 companies involved. All the products on display are characterized by great attention to the use of natural materials, colors, fabrics, traditional techniques, and craftsmanship, but in a logic of industrial reproducibility. A symphony of languages that well represents the peculiarities of #design know-how, capable of combining local culture with a global market.”
The brands of the 12 companies involved, which operate in the sectors of carpets, outdoor products, ceramics, armchairs, fabrics, and others, are:
The Carpet Maker, Deesawat, Kenkoon, Kun decorate, Masaya by Asia Collection, Mobella, Moonler Collection, Performax, Prempracha's Collection, Sculpture, T Thaniya, Touchable.
