When the #yamahaxt500 hit the market in 1977, it took the hearts of motorcycle fans around the globe by storm and triggered a run on enduro bikes. However, in one regard the one-banger four-stroker of the Japanese bike was always a special challenge, in particular for the inexperienced. It did not have an electric starter and if you didn’t know exactly how the starting procedure using the kick-starter worked, you had a really hard time kicking an XT 500 to life.
