Getting to know the Mercedes-AMG F1 W14 E PERFORMANCE for the first time
Preparations for the 2023 Formula One season are gathering pace. The official launch of the new Mercedes-AMG F1 W14 E PERFORMANCE last Wednesday was followed by a first outing for the new car as part of a demonstration day; running limited to just 15 kilometres. On Thursday, the Team completed a filming day with 100 kilometres of permitted running on the National Circuit at Silverstone. Conditions were damp throughout, with George Russell first behind the wheel of the W14, with Lewis Hamilton taking over in the afternoon. Now that the drivers and engineers have had a chance to gather their first impressions of the new car, the team will head straight from a chilly and rainy Silverstone to the Bahrain desert where the official F1 pre-season tests will take place over a three-day period (Thursday 23 - Saturday 25 February). The tests on the Bahrain International Circuit are the only opportunity for the 10 F1 teams to prepare for the season opener a week later (3 - 5 March) at the same venue.

Introducing the Junior class of 2023
The two race drivers, George Russell and Lewis Hamilton, are joined by Reserve Driver Mick Schumacher in preparing for the start of the new Formula One season. Meanwhile, the next generation of talented youngsters are already working hard in the Junior classes in the hope of one day making the step up into the top class themselves. They include the gifted youngsters of the Mercedes-AMG PETRONAS F1 Team Junior Programme. Six of their number are carrying on where they left off in 2022 (Andrea Kimi Antonelli, Paul Aron, Yuanpu Cui, Luna Fluxá, Alex Powell, Frederik Vesti), with Kenzo Craigie joining as a newcomer this year, bringing the total of up-and-coming drivers to seven. Inaugurated in 2016, the Junior Programme continues the Mercedes-Benz tradition of discovering and nurturing young drivers. The seven Juniors have commitments across the entire spectrum of feeder series to F1, which range from karting to the FIA Formula 2 Championship. One member of the team's Junior squad, Bologna-born Andrea Kimi Antonelli, has even had the satisfaction of celebrating a championship title already this year - the Italian teenager wrapped up the Formula Regional Middle East Championship title last weekend.

Double victory and title runners-up in the Asian Le Mans Series
Mercedes-AMG Motorsport rounded off the Asian Le Mans Series in style last weekend. In the second event of the series hosted by the Yas Marina Circuit in Abu Dhabi, Martin Konrad (AUT), Luca Stolz (GER) and Al Faisal Al Zubair (OMA) driving the number 7 Mercedes-AMG GT3 of Al Manar #racing by HRT crossed the finish line first in both four-hour races. The result was enough to secure second place in both the team and drivers' championships.

Raffaele Marciello (SUI), Fabian Schiller and Florian Scholze (both GER) in the number 10 car of GetSpeed contributed a further podium for the brand in Abu Dhabi, taking third place the second of the two races. They end the season in third place in both championship standings.

In the second sprint race at the Circuit Ricardo Tormo in Valencia, the duo finished second overall, which also handed them victory in the GT3 class. In the GT4 category, Simon Connor Primm and Jan-Philipp Springob (both GER) put in an outstanding performance in the number 85 car of Customer #racing team CV Performance Group, chalking up two class wins and a further Top Three finish in class.
