Congratulations to our #solidarity Partners at Project WILD, whose 2023 has begun with the conclusion of their first purchase of land on behalf of the WILD Nature Foundation. Deed papers for the purchase were signed with an example of WILD: Savannah Sunset – our most recent writing collaboration with National Geographic Explorers and Photographers, Helle and Uri Løvevild Golman.
Located high in the Colombian Andes, the newly christened WILD Campo Alegre spans 731 hectares of cloud forest. Here, more than a century of agricultural deforestation has decimated the alpine ecosystem – traditional home to species including the Andean tiger cat, mountain tapir and the critically endangered Fuertes's parrot.
Before replanting work can begin in the spring together with local authorities, cattle must be relocated from the area and barbed wire removed. Besides creating a sanctuary for local species, Helle and Uri plan to encourage local and foreign researchers to use the new nature reserve for study, and persuade surrounding landowners to join a coalition to restore and conserve the region's biodiversity.
Preserve the last wild habitats, help re-wild the world.
Exotic shapes and textures offer writers a sense of escape, and include mementos of Helle and Uri's life in the wild. Available in editions of 999 18K gold-nib fountain pens, rollerballs and slimline ballpoints.
