Hyundai Achieves Podium Finish at Daytona

  • Mark Wilkins and #masonfilippi Battle to Third-Place Finish
  • Hyundai and Bryan Herta Autosport Third in Championship Standings

Following four hours of intense #racing, #markwilkins and #masonfilippi, the drivers of the No. 98 Hyundai Elantra N TCR, battled through the first race of the IMSA Michelin Pilot Challenge season to capture a third-place finish in the BMW M Endurance Challenge at DAYTONA International Speedway. Bryan Herta Autosport’s (BHA) podium finish led the Hyundai stable of drivers and is a solid start to BHA and Hyundai’s mission to earn another championship title. Reigning champions Michael Lewis and Taylor Hagler encountered a challenging day after experiencing mechanical issues that caused the No. 1 Hyundai Elantra N TCR to stop off track and need repairs in the garage before finishing eighth.

On their debut with the Elantra N TCR, Deily Motorsports scored a fourth-place finish with their No. 70 entry – driven by Jacob Deily and Tyler Maxson. Maxson was able to lead multiple laps for the team that only ran their first TCR race – with a Veloster N TCR – at the end of the 2022 season.

Harry Gottsacker and Robert Wickens finished sixth in class in their Bryan Herta Autosport entry. In the opening part of the race Gottsacker had been part of the lead battle. However, a problem during the first pit stop – though quickly resolved – was enough to drop them down the order. From there they were able to avoid further issues to make their way back up the standings.
