Athanasios Argianas - An ear of arms (around you)

Renata Fabbri is pleased to announce the extension of the show An Ear of Arms (around you) by the London and Athens based artist and composer Athanasios Argianas. On view until January 14^th, 2023, the project features a body of new sculptures devised and produced specifically for the exhibition space.

 Encompassing sculpture, painting, text, #performance and music, Argianas’ interdisciplinary practice is deeply influenced by his background in musical composition. His research investigates the physicality of sculpture versus the immateriality of performed lyrics, or language, making immaterial objects from material means and vice versa.

Conceived as a symphony that creates germinating connections between the individual works, An Ear of Arms (around you) evokes an ear made up of folded arms: a metaphor for an affective and shared practice of listening. The works on view, inspired by references to both the natural element and illustrations of the physical realm, play with the limits of sculpture, through layers of representation and reference, as the solid brass ribbon that is bent until it seems elastic and soft, on which the artist has etched a text that again opens up another layer of space, that of spoken language – a virtual immaterial objecthood.
