Michele Parisi/Bogdan Vladuta: DIALOGUES

Compared to the images recreated as past fragments from history, the power of words seems incredibly more powerful in the ability to reenact events and facts that are definitely finished. The figurative representation, apparently so captivating in putting ourselves in the middle of the scene, seems to be able only to replicate enigmas and mysteries that we can't completely understand. Indeed, Merleau-Ponty says that "a text by Heraclitus shed light on our comprehension like no sculpture in fragments can ever do, because in the text the meaning is placed differently, it is concentrated in another way, and because nothing achieve the ductility of words".

In the exhibition space of Paolo Maria Deanesi GalleryMichele Parisi and Bogdan Vladuta mix their "archaeological painting", their "landscapes of ruins", so tied to something that passed by and came to an end. Somehow, this meeting between two discourses around painting – autonomous but available for a mutual dialogue – seems an attempt to check in the visual practice the affirmation by Merleau-Ponty, quoted before. The pictorial picture can really tell us something weighty about history or its voices are just voices of silence only able to repeat as in a circle the magic and the melancholy of something that we have lost forever?

The wanted outdatedness of the contemporary discourses of the two artists probably conceals the will to play with this weakness of pictorial (and sculptural) art to give voice to a muteness and give shape to a suspension that leads directly to the mystery of time.
The double-show of #bogdanvladuta and #micheleparisi entitled the voices of painting are voices of silence, curated by Gabriele Salvaterra, is the first event of the series Dialogues, a new format by #paolomariadeanesigallery that aims for show together different researches of contemporary artists.
