Antoniolupi: Paesaggi Sospesi pouf
One pattern, two colors, three shapes. The geometric progression narrates, as befits a theorem, a small collection of accessories with a transversal use and a unitary concept. The Paesaggi Sospesi poufs have multiple functions - informal seating, support surface for a coffee tray, footrest - bringing the attention on the characteristic of finished and defined objects. Their small and solid volume has a support of a light metal structure. So light that it can be seen and forgotten in an instant, to leave perceptual space for what is above.
The secret of Paesaggi Sospesi lies in suspending the thought about weight and mass, perceptually canceling it thanks to the minimal detachment from the floor. The shadow thus generated suggests the surface below flows continuously and homogeneously, while above everything can happen. Light and shadow envelop the object, and, on the surface, something appears on the fine texture of the fabric. A pattern of squares with very thin lines recalls a familiar image, to which our conscience has always been unconsciously linked. Within each space - neither small nor large, yet perfect - the eye knows how to pigeonhole information: letters, numbers, dashes that, extended to the next space and the one after it, outline a drawing and tell a story.
