This focus of this month’s #whitecube Salon is Christian Marclay’s Video Quartet (2002), which is featured in a major exhibition of the artist’s work at the Centre Pompidou this month.
Marclay’s expansive, multi-disciplinary practice seeks to challenge conventional divisions between fine art and audio cultures, and test the perceptual limits of sound.
This four-channel video installation explores the artist’s abiding fascination with media imagery and music, mixing together over 700 fragments of recorded sonic performances to produce a rich and meticulous audio-visual composition.
