Successful outcome of the 2022 summer programme and new art exhibition at the Mercedes-Benz Museum starting 27 October

  • A total of close to 70,000 visitors at 72 open-air events at the Museum
  • Considerable response to the special exhibition “70 Years of Mercedes-Benz SL”
  • On 27 October 2022, the new special exhibition “Moving in Stereo” starts with 150 works of art from the Mercedes-Benz Art Collection: mercedes-benz.art

The #mercedesbenzmuseum boasts an all-round positive outcome of the 2022 summer programme. A total of close to 70,000 visitors attended the wide-range of open-air events. “In recent weeks, our summer areal has once again proved to be a very versatile and atmospherically unique venue,” says Bettina Haussmann, Director of the #mercedesbenzmuseum. “After the limited opportunities of the past two years, we were finally able to get off to a good start.”

Special exhibition “70 Years of Mercedes-Benz SL” drew to a close on 9 October

The summer programme in the outdoor area and the offerings in the #mercedesbenzmuseum were perfect complements to each other. For example, the special exhibition “Fascination SL – A dream car for 70 years” in Collection Room 5 thrilled visitors right up to its finale on 9 October. Among other things, ten SL sports cars, from the oldest existing SL to the present day, have been on display.

From 27 October: Art exhibition “Moving in Stereo”

The next exhibition highlight starts on 27 October 2022: Then the new special exhibition “Moving in Stereo” opens with works from the Mercedes-Benz Art Collection. A total of 150 modern and contemporary international works by 90 artists from the world over will be shown within the scope of the permanent exhibition as well as in Collection Room 5: www.mercedes-benz.art.

Open-air programmes: Concert Summer, urban culture, cinema, Classics & Coffee

The fourth Concert Summer once again showed top artists on the big festival stage – Alvaro Soler on 9 July 2022 and rap star Sido on 10 July 2022 were celebrated by a total of 12,000 concertgoers. In addition, the big children’s and family day, featuring an extensive programme and attended by more than 10,000 visitors, was held on 10 July 2022.

For a second time, the “Stadtkultur am Mercedes-Benz Museum” (“Urban culture at the Mercedes-Benz Museum”) made a guest appearance and has thus established itself in the region even further as an #event platform. The Museum provides creators of culture from Stuttgart and the region with an open-air stage as a unique summer location – resulting in a varied and attractive programme mix. A total of 8,300 guests attended the 25 events.

One particularly popular part of the summer programme at the #mercedesbenzmuseum is the open-air cinema, which was attended by a total of 9,000 visitors. This meant that it was all but sold out. There were 15 films to choose from. The available seats were filled to 86 per cent capacity.

The classic car meeting place “Classics & Coffee” held around the #mercedesbenzmuseum, whose popularity extends well beyond the Stuttgart region, ran until 9 October 2022 and once again thrilled fans of classic cars with its relaxed atmosphere over the course of 30 event dates. A total of 8,500 classic vehicles of various brands and 30,000 visitors were counted. Thanks to many sunny days and attractive special topics such as “Offroad”, “Mercedes-Benz SL” and “S-Class” in recent weeks, these figures once again rose significantly compared to previous years.
