Maroncelli Design District

VIA MARONCELLI * TITO SPERI * QUADRIO * VIALE PASUBIO
OPENING Monday 6 June 2022 h.18/21,30

From 6 to 12 June, #design Week opens and the city becomes a protagonist on the international scene with the great exhibition of #design trends and the novelties of the #salonedelmobile2022. Even Milan’s districts become trendy theatres such as #maroncellidistrict, which in recent years has increasingly qualified as Milan’s new trend-setting area with its Galleries of #design, Art #design
Modern Art, #contemporaryart, Fashion Luxury, Hair Styles and Restaurants. #maroncellidistrict has for some years now extended to the quadrilateral of via Maroncelli, Tito Speri, Quadrio, Viale Pasubio creating an interesting and stimulating exhibition itinerary. The area has been compared by some prestigious newspapers such as the Financial Times, London’s Independent and Corriere della Sera as the new Milanese Soho adjacent to the Porta Nuova Garibaldi pole and the neheadquarters of Palazzo Feltrinelli.

The itinerary begins at Via Maroncelli 2 with Officina Antiquaria, which sets up the exhibition space with a special selection of historical furniture, whose creators have contributed to making Italian #design an icon in the world. Through a diverse and constantly evolving collection, the gallery tells the story of historical eras, artistic currents, craftsmanship and timeless aesthetic qualities.

At 2 via Maroncelli Il Vicolo art gallery hosts two famous Australian brands in the field of lighting, Christopher Boots and Lost profile Studio. The project for the #design week is an installation of the new collections with sharing of materials and aesthetic research on the themes of natural history, space and time.

At 5 Via Maroncelli DVO hosts Rotaliana with the presentation “Borderlight Light”. A preview of the OPEN DAY 7-12 JUNE 2022 LEARNING+INNOVATION CENTER. Rotaliana interprets the borderline of light between technical and decorative, between domestic and working spaces. In the showroom at Via Maroncelli 5 in Milan, the new Rotaliana lamps Totem & Tabù, Souvlaki and Venere by Giovanni Lauda, and Sol by Paolo Rizzatto will be presented. Dvo interprets the ergonomic and sustainable office with the new OSLO (operative series) and DAKAR (executive series) tables designed by Antonio Morello.

At Via Maroncelli 7, the new Manuel Zoia Gallery space is hosting the “TerraMadre” project by artist and designer Dario Brivio. On 6 June, there will be a preview of the exhibition and on 7 June the inauguration of the project. TerraMadre investigates the concept of Mother as a place of fecundity and transformation through new works that hybridise sculpture and #design. Starting from the assumption that human beings and nature embody an inseparable ecosystem, the artist creates sinuous and harmonious, welcoming and gestating forms that echo the archetype of the Great Goddess, or Great Mother, the primordial female divinity. The strength and grandeur of this symbol opens up reflection on the limits of our planet, to which we respond with the power of Love, which is an action of care towards Nature, to the point of consciously modifying the relationship between human beings and the Earth we inhabit.

At Via Maroncelli 10, Galleria Rossella Colombari presents EN PLEIN AIR. Starting from the concept that a space has no defined characteristics but can be contained by a line and measured by the objects that inhabit it, EN PLEIN AIR is conceived as a continuum between works of #design and works of art. The selection for the new exhibition En Plein Air | curated by Rossella Colombari takes its cue from Mario Schifano’s work Petit en Plein Air Gris from 1963 to present a domestic environment that extends to outdoor spaces.

The Spazio espositivo NonostanteMarras in Via Cola di Rienzo 8 presents “Un vaso è per sempre” | Antonio Marras | Galleria Rossella Colombari | In collaboration with MarsigliLab. Un Vaso è per sempre (A vase is forever) is the new collection of vases - unique pieces by Antonio Marras made for Galleria Rossella Colombari. The vases that make up the collection were made in November 2021 in Cutrofiano, Apulia, with the historical firm F.lli Coli.

Galleria Maroncelli 12 on Via Maroncelli 12 hosts the exhibition of Giovanni De Maio artistic ceramics. The Salerno-based company presents the story of a meeting of elective affinities where the chromatic restitution and the iconography of #design trace a new way of covering surfaces.

At Via Maroncelli 11 Alessia Paladini Gallery is pleased to present the exhibition “Interior, photographs by Lorenzo Castore”. On display is a selection of polyptychs and single works created between 2008 and 2022. Each of the works on display speaks of an interior physical space and the emotional universe to which it refers. They are all houses that no longer exist, left for the most disparate reasons (death, war, separation, sale, change of life...) by those who had lived in them, furnishing them in their own image and likeness, thus giving them a specific personality, the result of the characters and tastes, circumstances and daily life, culture, education and geographical origin of their inhabitants. Lorenzo Castore’s research is characterised by long-term projects that focus on personal experience, identity, memory and the relationship between small individual stories, the present and history.

Continuing on to Via Maroncelli 13, ETEL presents a tribute to the centenary of Jorge Zalszupin’s birth with an exhibition dedicated to the great Brazilian architect and designer.

At 14 Via Maroncelli, it extends its international collection with a new project by Cristina Celestino: Panorama, a #design synthesis embracing two continents and many identities, where the organic nature of the furnishings creates new habits and meanings.

Inside the courtyard on Via Maroncelli 13 Galleria Paola Colombari is inaugurating the exhibition “DESIGN IS A THREAD_TOM VACK PHOTOGRAPHY” on the occasion of the Milan #design Week during the #salonedelmobile2022. A selection of works by the well-known photographer Tom Vack and new limi- ted edition Art #design works by Ronald Sasson, Antonio Cagianelli, Alê Jordao, Pawel Grunert, Andrea de Carvalho, Alessandra Roveda and the creative duo Adriana Fortunato and Caterina Fumagalli, who have turned upcycling into a field of experimentation for textile art with the Noloom Collection signed FIBRA research. On display are a series of photographic works by Tom Vack selected by Ester Pirotta and the new Art #design works selected by Paola Colombari in collaboration for Brazilian #design with Neia Paz.
