The FIM Enduro World Championship reopens its gates and the 2022 season begins with victories and podiums for METZELER riders

The first world round took place in Spain and METZELER and its riders took several victories. Andrea Verona for the first time in his career won a day of competition in the Enduro GP and is the leader. Amazing show of strength for Josep Garcia who won Day 2  in the Enduro GP. The official Beta riders Steve Holcombe and Brad Freeman complete the podium.

Lalin (Spain), 9th May 2022 - The first round of the FIM EnduroGP World Championship took place in Lalin, a small village a few kilometers from Santiago de Compostela and one of the places of passage for pilgrims on the famous Camino de Santiago. Motoclub Movete na Moto designed a course with three very insidious and technical special tests that put all top riders to the test. The race path opened with the Extreme Test located in the centre of Lalin with a mixed terrain of dirt and sand and many rocks, then the riders had to reach the Cross Test and then the Enduro Test located about 15 minutes from the paddock. The second PS of the Cross Test was very fast and had a mixed terrain of grass, dirt and sand, while the Enduro Test was mainly on soft and sandy ground in a forest.

In the Enduro GP Andrea Verona, official GasGas rider, won a day of racing for the first time in his career, beating multiple world champion Steve Holcombe at the last special test and setting an incredible time. On the following day, KTM factory rider Josep Garcia wins the Enduro GP after a day of racing in the lead from the second special to the last. The Beta Factory Enduro Team riders Steve Holcombe, second in Day One and Brad Freeman third in Day 2, also climb the podium.

The METZELER supported rider, Andrea Verona (Gas Gas Factory Racing), literally dominated the E1 class, winning both days of competition in the Lalin GP. Thomas Oldrati (Honda Racing RedMoto World Enduro Team) also ran two excellent days of racing, collecting two well-deserved second places in the E1 class.

In the E2 class Josep Garcia (Red Bull KTM Factory Racing) leads the provisional classification thanks to a third and a first place. Steve Holcombe (Team Beta Factory Enduro) after his splendid victory on the opening day was unable to collect many points on Day2.

Brad Freeman proved to be the absolute dominator of the E3 class, in Lalin the rider of the Beta Factory Enduro Team finished first twice starting the season with full loot. With the new Fantic 300 and equipped with the METZELER MCE 6 DAYS EXTREME the rider Davide Guarneri (Fantic Factory Team E / 50 Racing) has climbed the second step of the podium twice.

In the Junior class, our best riders equipped with METZELER MCE 6 DAYS EXTREME were Roni Kytonen (Honda Racing RedMoto World Enduro Team) and Jed Etchells (Fantic D’Arpa Racing). The Honda rider collected two second places in the hard-fought Junior class while the English rider on the Fantic and equipped with METZELER tires obtained two third places.

With a win and a second place Harry Edmondson (Fantic JET Racing) is the leader of the Youth class. Unlucky test for Kevin Cristino (Fantic Factory Team E/50 Racing), the supported METZELER rider had a mechanical problem on the last special test on opening day while he was leading his class.

On Saturday 14 and Sunday 15 May, the second round of the FIM Enduro World Championship will take place on Portuguese soil in Péso da Regua, a few kilometers from Porto.
