Evan Bros.WorldSSP Yamaha Team looking for glory at the cathedral of speed at Assen

The Evan Bros. WorldSSP Yamaha Team is ready to face the second round of the 2022 WorldSSP Championship this weekend, at the historic Assen circuit in the Netherlands, which returned to the calendar last year after the Covid stop in 2020. In 2021 the Dutch circuit gave a podium to the Ravenna-based team, which is aiming high again this year.

Lorenzo Baldassarri arrives in Holland after making a fantastic debut in World Supersport, taking pole position, a win and a second place in the first round at Aragon. At the TT Lorenzo will be able to draw on the experience he has gained in the past, having already raced six times at the Dutch circuit, with a fifth place as his best result. After impressing on his debut, the Italian is obviously looking for confirmation, as well as better knowledge of both the championship and his Yamaha YZF-R6.

Peter Sebestyen is looking for redemption in Holland, after a first round where a problem with his left shoulder prevented him from showing his potential. Since the days following his debut, Peter has continued his treatment, in order to arrive at Assen in the best possible condition: on Thursday his condition will be checked by the medical staff, who will decide whether or not Sebestyen will be fit to race. The Dutch circuit can only evoke sweet memories for the Hungarian rider, who began his adventure with the Evan Bros. WorldSSP Yamaha Team at the TT last year.

The weekend at Assen will start as usual on Friday, with the first two free practice sessions. Saturday will be time for the Superpole and Race 1, while Sunday Race 2 will complete the weekend's program.

Lorenzo Baldassarri: "Assen is a track I like a lot, thinking about which I have bittersweet memories. It's a track that suits me, and I think it suits the team too. We know that others have tested at Assen, so they might have an advantage at first, but I'm sure that if we work well from FP1 we can aim high again".

Peter Sebestyen: "I'vebeen doing a lot of physiotherapy over the last few days, trying not to overload the shoulder, and I think it won't be a problem to pass the medical check tomorrow. Once on track we'll build on the good feeling I had in the last part of the weekend at Aragon: my target is the top ten, and we'll try to improve to get there. I like Assen, so I can be confident".

Fabio Evangelista (Team Principal): "In the last few seasons we've picked up good results at Assen, which we want to do again this season. Lorenzo has started his adventure in Supersport in the best possible way and I'm convinced that He can do well in Holland too. At the same time I hope that Peter will be judged fit to ride for the weekend and then we will work to get him into the positions he deserves".
