MITCH EVANS CONQUERS ROME FOR JAGUAR TCS RACING
Jaguar TCS Racing win the fourth round of the ABB FIA Formula E World Championship in an action-packed Rome E-Prix. Mitch Evans secured a dominant victory on the streets of the eternal city, which has been a happy hunting ground for the team for a third year in a row.

Mitch started ninth on the grid, after a challenging qualifying session saw him narrowly miss out on the Duels. The Kiwi gained two places off the line overtaking both Porsches before a full-course yellow and safety car was deployed. When the green flag was waved, Evans continued to carve his way through the pack, making impressive overtakes to secure places while maximising on energy saving. With fourteen minutes to go, Mitch overtook Robin Frijns in the Envision Racing car to take the lead of the Rome E-Prix. The pace and efficiency of the Jaguar I-TYPE 5 was truly dominant as the New Zealander finished the race 5.7 seconds ahead of the rest of the field more than his last victory in Mexico City in 2020.
Teammate Sam Bird executed a stellar race by carving eight places through the field to finish in P5 securing valuable points for the team. Sam encountered body work and a wheel rim damage during the race but still managed to show the superior race pace of the Jaguar I-TYPE 5 throughout the 50 minute plus one lap race.
Mitch Evans moves to eighth in the drivers’ standings while Sam Bird sits in eleventh. Jaguar TCS Racing sit sixth in the ABB FIA Formula E World Championship teams’ standings.
What a result for Jaguar TCS Racing. Days like today show why we never give up. A great drive from both Mitch and Sam and it’s incredible to repeat our win here after taking our first victory in Rome in 2019. It was one of those races where the race came to us but it was all down to a really polished performance from Mitch and a great team strategy. Mitch was exceptional today and Sam did what we know he can do best – fighting through the field and making the right decisions at the right times. Overall, I’m so proud of the team. We’ve known we have the potential since the start of the season but this has been the moment we’ve all been working hard to deliver. We are looking forward to another opportunity to race again tomorrow.

The overall car and team performance won me the race today. The whole team have been working incredibly hard in the gap after Mexico to secure us the win today. The car was quick in qualifying today but we made the wrong call which saw us just miss out on the Duels. To win here again in Rome is such a great feeling and I’m so proud of everyone. A huge thanks to all the guys and girls at Jaguar TCS Racing and hopefully we can do the same thing again tomorrow.

All of the team at Jaguar TCS Racing gave us an incredible Jaguar I-TYPE 5 to drive today. The performance was clearly there throughout the race and it’s great to have climbed to fifth to secure valuable points for the team. We go again tomorrow.
