Barking Gecko Theatre Announces Appointment of Ryan Taaffe as Chief Executive Officer/Executive Producer

Barking Gecko Theatre Company is delighted to advise that #ryantaaffe has been appointed to the position of Chief Executive Officer and Executive Producer to the Company. Ryan was most recently Executive Director of CircuitWest, the #westernAustralianpresentersassociation.

“After an extensive recruitment process with candidates applying from across the globe, we are delighted to welcome #ryantaaffe as our incoming CEO/EP,” #barkinggeckotheatre Board Chair #jeanetteroberts said.

Mr Taaffe has a long association with the Western Australian arts and performing arts sector including as General Manager of the #koorlinyartscentre in Kwinana, where he saw the Centre return to programming productions for the broader Kwinana community. He studied arts and musical theatre at university and has a deep commitment to the arts industry, pursuing growth and collaboration.

“Ryan  brings  considerable  arts  sector  management  experience  to  Barking  Gecko  Theatre,  as  well  as  a  deep understanding of both the State and Commonwealth public sector, and will be a key player, working with the Company’s artistic team, to ensure that we deliver the productions for which Barking Gecko is renowned,” Ms Roberts added.

Ryan said, “I am honoured to have been appointed to the CEO/EP role with #barkinggeckotheatre. The Company has an international reputation for excellence built on over 30 years of award-winning productions and I look forward to working with the team to continue this well into the future.”

Mr Taaffe will commence with #barkinggeckotheatre in January 2022.

The Barking Gecko Board is also delighted to announce that #kaylenegulich PSM and #amandamorrison will be joining the Board as members in February 2022. 

“Kaylene, current CEO of WA Treasury Corporation, brings a depth of experience in finance and government to the Board.  Amanda  is  Head  of  Global  Production  of  the  Komixx  Entertainment  Group,  where  she  was  most  recently Executive Producer for the acclaimed young #people television series ITCH, filmed in WA,” Ms Roberts added.

Barking Gecko Theatre Company recently launched its program for 2022 which will see two new productions, The Great Un-Wondering of Wilbur Whittaker and Cicada brought to the stage and toured across Western #Australia for the first time.
