METZELER SPORTEC M9 RR: THE SUPERSPORT TYRE RANGE GROWS WITH NEW SIZES FOR ADVENTURE BIKES
The new sizes of the METZELER SPORTEC M9 RR range dedicated to Adventure motorcycles will be available from December
Milan (Italy), 9th November 2021 – Presented at the beginning of 2020, SPORTEC M9 RR is the latest supersport tyre from the METZELER brand, designed for motorcyclists who need performance but also use their bikes in the most diverse weather conditions. Initially intended for supersport, naked and crossover motorcycles with 17-inch rims, the SPORTEC M9 RR range is further enriched thanks to the arrival of 120/70 R 19 front and 170/60 R 17 rear size tyres. These products are dedicated to equipping the most popular adventure bikes, who will now be able to enjoy an unprecedented ‘sporty’ riding experience.

Since its birth, the brand has constantly developed products to anticipate the growing expectations of the most demanding motorcyclists, becoming a benchmark over the years for different market trends in the tyre sector.
The new SPORTEC M9 RR sizes are dedicated to owners of the most popular adventure bikes, who prefer a dynamic riding style on mountain passes and extra-urban sections, who also expect high levels of performance and safety from a tyre. The main benefits of SPORTEC M9 RR are the ability to offer high driving pleasure thanks to excellent handling; a quick warm-up and excellent grip; plus consistent performance throughout the life of the tyre.
The name SPORTEC M9 RR consolidates the technological tradition of METZELER: SPORTEC identifies the supersport road tyres of the METZELER portfolio.The RR suffix - acronym for Road Racing - refers to the iconic competitions such as the Tourist Trophy in the Isle of Man, won in its 2019 edition on METZELER RACETEC RR Slick tyres. METZELER has historically used road racing as a testing ground to validate the peak performance and versatility of its products thanks to the wide range of operating conditions that can be faced during these events, and this know-how is now also at the service of adventure bike riders.
THE TYRE IN DEPTH
The technical characteristics of the SPORTEC M9 RR sizes dedicated to the world of adventure bikes have been specially studied by METZELER engineers to maintain the same distinctive performance target of the rest of the SPORTEC M9 RR product range, which therefore remains unchanged regardless of the technical and structural characteristics of the machine that it is intended for.
The structure of the SPORTEC M9 RR new sizes has been specially developed to ensure sporty performance and handling by taking into account the dimensions and weight of adventure motorbikes, which are generally taller and heavier than supersport bikes. The METZELER brand engineers have designed for the front a PET structure, characterised by a relatively lower stiffness than traditional rayon sizes, to offer an easy and intuitive ride.
The rear sizes of SPORTEC M9 RR are equipped with Full Silica shoulder compounds derived from racing-rain tyres, refined to stabilise their behaviour at high temperatures, and with newly formulated Full silica central compounds, arranged using the Cap & Base scheme. The Full Silica compounds are used to improve the warm-up time, the level of mechanical grip on a wide range of asphalt types and the chemical grip in wet conditions, for the benefit of use on roads with uneven asphalts and in different weather conditions. The same Full Silica central compound is also applied to the 19-inch front sizes, in this case extended along the entire tread width, to ensure a consistent response and perfect coupling between the tyre set.
The profile has also been specially designed to best enhance the characteristics of the motorcycles for which the product is intended. The 19-inch front of the SPORTEC M9 RR tyre feature a slightly more rounded profile than the 17-inch sizes, geared to the challenging requirements of these bikes in terms of stability.
